This book is a great tribute to Catwoman, and it's just as stylish as she is! Readers will love the purple vinyl cover and will ooh and ahh over the hundreds of color photos. There is information on Catwoman from all the various phases of her life, including comic book, movie, and television appearances. The book contains a small amount of history on Catwoman, but it's not very in-depth. This is supposed to be a fun pictorial tribute to everyone's favorite feline fatale, and that's exactly what it is.

This was a very pretty book to look at, but it didn't offer much information. It listed the women who played Catwoman on TV and film, and it gave a bit of background regarding her origin story ... and that was it. The rest was a bunch of cute profile quips, fashion tips, and bits of attitude, all accompanied with collages of panels from the comics. If you're looking a sassy coffee table book with gorgeous artwork, this book is great. It's spunky, well-designed, and fun to look at. Don't expect much actual background information, though. It didn't offer any info about the various books she's been in. No information about who has written her and who has drawn her (beyond call-out quotes from some of these creators). I really would have liked credits and more descriptive text to accompany the artwork. The additional sketchbook pages were nice but ultimately not much more than what you get in the current comic. Overall it really reminded me of a puff piece in a women's magazine like Cosmo Girl - very nice to look at, but light on information.

I have been a Catwoman (or "Catty" to her friends) fan since FOREVER! It was a wonderful surprise to see that she FINALLY got some recognition for her impact on comics and her illustrious career as comic's "felonious feline." I thank my special comic vendor for the special copy of this fine collectible! Her costume alone has been the epitome of feminimity and the deelite of adolescent males (and females?) everywhere for many generations. There hasn't been as much marketing and memorabilia for Catwoman over the years. Less popular female comic characters seemed to have garnered more (much to my chargrin), but Catty has managed to hold her own throughout the ages. Hopefully the upcoming "Catwoman" movie starring the spectacular Halle Berry will change this. This book has been fun to read and a great tribute to a woman who has never taken life seriously and herself even less. It's this reason why she's immortally fabulously fierce and a world famous FELINE FATALE.... MeOw! >^o.-^<

Entertaining read for casual and die-hard fans,

I was very excited to discover this book at a local bookstore. Finally, something comprehensive on Catwoman! The book itself is interesting to look at with it's journal-style covers and scrapbook-like format (very thick card-like pages). The book is a very light read, touching upon the various aspects of the Catwoman character (comic and live-action) like origins, history, actresses playing the role, costumes, and the relationship to Batman. The artwork is what I particularly enjoyed as it featured photographs of the live-action Catwoman, as well as samples of vintage Catwoman comics and the animated-style Catwoman. The writing is reminiscent of something flirty and light-hearted like articles in Cosmo or Glamour. Although the cutesy writing got annoying at times, I think it's a good buy for the money--especially for those who want to see how Catwoman has evolved over the years.

A great-looking, fun book. Not much text, a quick read. Similar format to the "Complete History" compilations of Batman and Superman, but less material. Call it "Complete History Lite".

This book is cute. Yes...I said cute. I love Catwoman, she totally hot, and this book does a good job at pointing out that she is one of Batman's most recognizable and famous villians...but it's really all just pretty pictures. The book only skims the surface of Catwoman, with little blurbs about her history from decade to decade--not nearly enough info for my tastes. But as a coffee table book it works quite well. Beautifuly designed and ultimately fun, "Catwoman" is well worth the price to enjoy just a glimpse of what made this chick so darn sexy.

I wish I had taken the book description a little more seriously before deciding to buy this. It's a beautifully designed book, as is usually the case with anything from Chronicle Books. However, I'm rather disappointed with the book overall. I had hoped/expected it to be similar -- but on a smaller scale -- to Chronicle Books' "history of" books on Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. It's packed with pictures, the majority of which are from the Golden and Silver Age era. Of course, the Modern Age, Animated, and Movie versions are represented as well. The book touches on many things about Catwoman's history and evolution, but there's very little depth to any of it. I'm not against having a "fun" book about Catwoman, but at times it's just too cutesy and precious. I would have liked more anecdotes and stories from people who worked on the character, from writers to artists to actors. After having read it last night (it's a very short read), the only interesting thing that I remember is the differences between Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt's takes on the character. If you're a casual Catwoman fan, I wouldn't bother. Diehard fans will love all the pictures and graphics, but there's little else to recommend it.

I am working on an in-depth research project on Catwoman, and I must admit, even though this book is visually compelling..that is all that it is. Catwoman is constantly viewed as a 'visual' character (read this as meaning sexualized), with little to no attention paid to her origins, actions, etc. It is crazy to see how many books are written on Batman, yet only two appear about Catwoman (both concerned with the visual more than anything else). Interesting....(in a bad cultural commentary way)..
This book is a nice collectable..but dont buy it for research purposes, or expect any in depth commentary on the character. You'll be dissapointed.

I've been a fan of Catwoman ever since I saw Michelle Pfeiffer shimmy into that skin-tight leather catsuit, but I had no idea she had such a long (and strange) career. This book is loaded with wonderful images of all the different versions of Catwoman from the Batman comics to the TV show to the movies. Best of all is that book is really funny. The author clearly loves Catwoman but isn't above poking a little fun at the character. It's just a little bit (I have to say it) catty. Very cool purple cover too.

although this book has lots of pictures (but not as many as you'd think, as some appear more than once), it has practically no content. it's very cute but not worth the 18 bucks. i wish someone would write a real history of catwoman, but this book is not it.
