Another Great hero from Lori Foster,
By
This review is from: Caught In The Act (Men to Rescue) (Mass Market Paperback)
When we first met Mick Dawson, he was the teenage protector of the heroine in BEGUILED (1999). You could not help but be drawn to him, as he was adult-like then, helping to protect the heroine and manage an apartment building at the tender age of sixteen. I had hoped he would get his own story, and was pleased to learn that it would be a longer length novel, the first ever by Lori Foster.Mick Dawson is now an undercover cop, somewhat a loner, but still a protector. He has been secretly observing a mysterious woman in his old neighborhood. One day he sees the chance to follow her but ends up taking a bullet meant for her in a robbery attempt. To Mick, it looked like the robbers were really trying to kill her. The lady turns out to be Delilah (Del) Piper. She is a mystery writer and also a loner. She thinks she is very capable of taking care of herself and doesn't understand why someone would be after her. She was just an innocent bystander. Her eccentric way of testing out plot devices for her books and interviewing criminals for research purposes couldn't possibly be related to the robbery/shooting. But Mick is so attractive.... So she invites Mick to her home so she can take care of him. Mick looks at the invitation as a way to protect Del and to get to know her better. Once there, the relationship between the two heats up. It is apparent the bad guys think Del knows something, and it is up to Mick and Del to figure out why, before they get to her. In the course of the investigation, Mick has his youthful insecurities come back to haunt him. Can he trust Del? Evidence seems to suggest she knows more than she lets on. Will Mick find out the truth and get the bad guys? Will these two get together permanently? The action packed ending provides the answers. The main characters are very compelling and likable. The story keeps you enthralled from the beginning and the reader guessing what will happen next. And of course the sizzling relationship between Mick and Del will give readers of romance what they want. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a nice mix of suspense, a little humor and hot romance. You will also get to meet once again characters from BEGUILED and WANTON, and get introduced to two new characters, Zack Grange and Josh Marshall. These men get their own stories in upcoming Temptations (TREAT HER RIGHT and MR. NOVEMBER).

Get caught reading this book.,
This review is from: Caught In The Act (Men to Rescue) (Mass Market Paperback)
In *Caught in the Act*, Lori Fosters first single title, we re-visit old friends from previous books and are introduced to a couple more who will get their own stories in the upcoming months. But the main focus is on Mick Dawson, undercover cop, and Delilah (Call me Del) Piper, mystery writer. After Mick has spent a couple of weeks longingly watching Del jog each morning, he finally works up the nerve to introduce himselfonly to get caught in a botched jewelry story holdup. While trying to protect Del, Mick is seriously injured and when he needs some nursing, Del volunteers. Theres something about Mick that attracts Del and rather than question the sanity of taking this stranger home with her, she goes with her instincts. Mick improves and the sexy writer drives him to the brink of insanity with her attention to his most basic needs. They forge a bond that gets stronger as the story goes on, so when Mick discovers that the robbery wasnt the usual sort of heist and that someone is out to kill Del, he turns from lover to fierce protector. His resolve is strengthened when they learn someone is watching every move they make, especially their bedroom moves. Before the story ends, near tragedy forces both to re-examine what their relationship means to each of them and where they go from that point on. *Caught in the Act* reunites Mick with Dane and Angel Carter from *Beguiled*, Alec and Celia Sharpe from *Wanton*, and introduces Zack Grange and Josh Marshall. In addition to being a hot romantic story, this book is a return to the brotherhood of male friends as found in the Buckhorn Brothers series and which this author does so well. The camaraderie touches your heart and the interaction and banter amongst this tight knit circle of males is what makes this book a keeper. I'm looking forward to Zach in *Treat Her Right* and Josh in *Mr. November*, both released later this year.

Caught In The Act: Take it into protective custody!,
By Morgan (Virginia Beach, VA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Caught In The Act (Men to Rescue) (Mass Market Paperback)
Lori Foster's latest book, CAUGHT IN THE ACT has readers buzzing. The much anticipated story of a character first introduced in a Special Release she shares with Jayne Ann Krentz, has readers hungry to get their hands on Mick Dawson's story. The fact that this is a longer novel (at nearly 300 pages), had this reader anxious to sit back and enjoy a little more time spent with these characters. We were first introduced to Mick in Beguiled as the heroine's landlord's son; then a gangly, reserved teen. A young man dealing with adult issues in a turbulent household. He helped the heroine, Angel, until her hero, Dane came along, but Ms. Foster knew that readers would want a success story for a young man mature beyond his years. Now Mick's all grown up. He's still reserved, and reluctant to trust others, but being a cop has much to do with his continued hesitance. That all changes the moment he spots Delilah Piper ambling past him on the street one afternoon. Mick is fascinated by her. He watches her. Even traces the route she jogs each day, which happens to be right past a restaurant that he and his two friends frequent. He sees her enter a jewelry store across the street from the eatery one rainy day, and decides it's his chance to make her acquaintance. Little did he know that he'd be caught in the middle of an armed robbery moments after entering the establishment! Mick becomes her hero, but his police instincts are on full alert when things don't add up, and it seems the object of his desire may have been targeted for murder. Could she be involved in some way? He wonders this even as he step in the line of fire and takes a bullet on her behalf. The attraction is mutual and intense for both "Del" and Mick. He knows he needs to protect her, since the assailants are still at large, but his personal feelings play a huge part in his decision to stay at her house while he recuperates from his injury. Her profession as a mystery novelist, and her unorthodox ways of writing her crime scenes give him pause; both for how she makes them realistic, but also for her safety while doing it, and the people she associates with while researching her books. Can Mick put his growing passion for this woman aside and do his duty as a cop if he finds she is involved with the jewelry store robbery? Or will his feelings take over his common sense, and ignore clues that will help him solve the crime? Ms. Foster has scored once again with her sexy characters and staunch loyalty of friends and family. Readers asked for more, and she answered the call with Caught In The Act. Mick's emotional scars will tug at your heartstrings, and the obvious single status of his friends, Zack and Josh, will have you clamoring for them to find a love for each, their own. A wonderful story of inner conflict and strength; this is a journey of a man who begins with a heart locked away because of his hurtful past, but opens it for a future with a woman who, with her love, has the power to heal it. Congratulations to Ms. Foster! A powerful in depth tale of love, heartache, trust, and truth. Caught In The Act has it all!

GOOD PLOT, BUT. . .,
By A Customer
This review is from: Caught In The Act (Men to Rescue) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is my first Lori Foster book so I don't know if this is her usual formula, but I thought Del and Mick were a little too quick off the mark with their sexual overtures. Overtures?! Good grief! That said, a good plot and an interesting story that moved along quickly make this book worth reading. Maybe I just like a little more seduction and a slightly slower pace as far as the romance is concerned. In fact, I guess that's the problem. I wouldn't call what happened between them a romance. More like over active hormones. Still, the story was original. For a REALLY great book which I rated a five (but should be a ten), check out LAUREN BACH's "LONE RIDER". WOW!! CHERRY ADAIR's new book "HIDE AND SEEK" is worth your time, too.

Fast, Funny, and Provocative,

As usual Lori Foster delivers a punch! I was pulled in from the first page and couldn't stop till I'd read the last word. Mick Dawson, is the perfect possessive, loving, indestructable Hero. He first stole my heart in Bequiled. While in that story, he was a young man struggling with trying to gain his footing in life, he even then showed his overwhelming sense of honor. He helped and took care of Angel, in that book, and now he's taking bullets for his one true love, Delilah Piper(aka. Del Piper) in his own story. He stopped my heart with his painful past and sped it up again with his sensual slow loving ways. Lori Foster introduces Mick's two, loyal-to-the-bone, friends Zack and Josh. And ladies you'll fall head-over-heals for all three of these fellas! I simply can't wait for the next two books in this wonderfully fast paced, sexy-as-sin series!!! Don't walk, run to your nearest bookstore, or order it right here on Amazon, whatever, just get this book, and enjoy!

So disappointed,

This review is from: Caught In The Act (Men to Rescue) (Mass Market Paperback)
First off, this book is not out of print. I just bought it a couple of days ago at the bookstore...and, just as quickly returned it only half read. For a Lori Foster book, it sure was boring. I agree with another reviewer who said that it was silly at times. The heroine, Delilah "Del", seems to be a rough draft of Grace from "Too Much Temptation" which is a much better book. Maybe it gets better in the second half, but, quite frankly, I just didn't care after reading the first few chapters. The story starts off with a cop, Mick, who sees Del on the street and is immediately attracted to her. He follows her into a jewelry store. In the store Mick manages to foil an armed robbery attempt and gets shot in the process trying to protect Del. Del, in her gratitude, offers to nurse him back to health by moving Mick into her apartment during his recovery. Mick agrees because he feels that there was something fishy going on and Del's life may be in danger. From there the romance/suspense beings. I write "romance/suspense" about this book with much sarcasm, because the story was downright silly and unbelievable most times. The chemistry between Mick and Del was a bit forced and the dialogue didn't have the wit and wasn't as touching or steamy as "Too Much Temptation". I guess you can tell that I really loved "Too Much Temptation." That was one HOT book even though the heroine, Grace, was REALLY annoying at times. If you've read "Too Much Temptation", don't bother with this book as it is lukewarm at best.

Wishes do come true!,

I'm one of the many devoted fans of Lori Foster's books, and have been waiting (non too patiently!)to read her first, longer-length contemporary CAUGHT IN THE ACT. No disappointments here! Lori's very special talent in mixing humor, great plots, and the hottest love scenes, came shining through in this book. MICK, is a hero to die for!(ah, to have a guy like him!), and the heroine, DELILAH, is his match in every way. There's a tense mystery as the plot, and keeps you turning pages. There's the instant heat that sizzles between Mick & Del. And there's Lori's "special hot love scenes" that threaten to melt you. Of course, by the end of the book you're already bemoaning the fact that it "just WASNT long enough"! You'll also get to greet old friends from Lori's previous books WANTON and BEGUILED. And meet new heroes, ZACK and JOSH, that I guarrantee will have you IMPATIENTLY waiting for their stories! All in all, Lori has a best seller with CAUGHT IN THE ACT, that devoted fans will devour, and new fans will become addicted to!

Sexy Suspense,

This was one of those lust-at-first-sight stories. He lusted after her, she didn't know he existed until he took a bullet for her in a botched jewelry story robbery attempt. Then, while he was hospitalized, sexual combustion took place, and their relationship advanced at amazing speed, considering that both of them had up to that point in time seemed to have been rather choosey about their sexual encounters. But - the characters were well-written and believable. The secondary characters were integral to the storyline. The sex scenes were graphic and plentiful. I found myself liking the characters, being amused by their reactions, and caught up in the mystery. It was a good story and worth reading. This was one of those books where the hero's friends are all gorgeous guys, so of course, the reader wants to know their stories too. Ms. Foster has thankfully provided sequels - Zach's story is in "Treat Her Right", and Josh's is in "Mr. November", both Harlequin Temptation books.

This hot, sexy, and fabulous love story is a Harlequin?,
By
This review is from: Caught In The Act (Men to Rescue) (Mass Market Paperback)
Caught in the Act came well recommended to me and now I know why. Before I started reading, I wrinkled my nose at the fact that this was a harlequin book. I used to read their thin novels back in the early 80's, and there was nothing special about them that I recalled. Now that I've finished Caught in the Act, I realize this is why no one should judge a book by it's cover. Caught in the Act is VERY special. Harlequin really has come a long way if they are now able to attract an Author of this high caliber.I loved her book Too Much Temptation, and so I told myself not to be too disappointed if Caught wasn't as good since I thought TMT was the perfect romance novel. I wasn't disappointed as I was hooked from Chapter one! I think I even liked Caught in the Act even better than TMT. Needless to say, I'll be heading out to look for more of her books now. When Mick an undercover vice-detective first spots Del (a semi-famous writer) jogging by, he is intrigued and attracted to her. After two weeks of watching her jog by daily, he decides to approach her. It's fast and furious action and passion after that. I mean passion with a capital P!!! Lori Foster's writing is flawless. Her heroines are smart, sassy and hold nothing back. The dialogue is hot, sexy and on the mark. I never once put the book down and said, "noone would ever say that in real life!". If you're in the mood to read a very hot, very good contemporary romance, go get Caught in the Act. I recommend it very highly.

Hopelessly Attracted!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Caught In The Act (Men to Rescue) (Mass Market Paperback)
I could not put this book down. First, there's the great description that Lori Foster offers, and then there's the steamy romance undertoning the whole story. Mick and Del are quite the couple. The attraction felt on both sides is just leaping from the pages. I loved the fact that the main point of view is the Mick's. Most romance books have some male insight, but the stories usually come from the female's point of view. The only thing I didn't like was when Mick was faced with a new dilema, he didn't find out try to ask Del, but jumped to conclusions instead and ended up hurting her. Overall, a great book to curl up with.
