"Causas y Azares" fue lo primero que escuché de Silvio Rodríguez, cuando aún me debatía en los estertores de la adolescencia, y, debo confesar, me fascinó. La unión perfecta entre melodía y contenido, era el vellocino que tanto había buscado. Desde ese momento desarrollé una secreta complicencia con Silvio y la Nueva Trova, allí encontraba amistad, amor, alegrías, rabias y otras palabras silvestres. Aún recuerdo, con dulce melancolía, cuando, envalentonado por la octava cerveza que había bebido, en una fiesta bailé la canción que da título al disco y que, a mi modesto entender, me parece inmejorable.

Review in english and spanish
English: I can't beleive this is the only review. I think i have heard 20 records of Silvio, and maybe 5 or 6 videos, and this is the best record. It has all types of songs, political, love, people, remembers, etc. Also, the musical arrangements are great, including guitar-solo, band, and so on. Highly recommended, this is part of the 3 or 4 must have for Silvio. It worth every penny.
Espanol: Este disco es excelente, si te gusta Silvio, o no tienes ningun disco y quieres uno solo que tenga todo, este es el que necesitas. Un clasico total.

Silvio Rodriguez came into my life via this album. I have learned that it is unique for this incredible poet because of the various instruments that are used. Silvio alone with his guitar is a rare treat, but on this album he is backed by a whole symphony of sound. After listening to the album a thousand times, I still cannot recognized each instrument being used. Allow Silvio and his jazz-like, trova nueva melodies and lyrics to take you where you've never gone before, for this is a one-of-a-kind musical masterpiece. Even if you do not understand the lyrics, which are incredible and profound, the rythms of this album are exceptional.
