More About the Author
I was born in Ogdensburg, New York, located on the Saint Lawrence River. After the death of my mother, I lived with my grandparents in Prescott, Ontario. During World War II, my sister and I ferried across the Saint Lawrence River admid rumors of German U-Boats lurking beneath the river's surface. (On October 14, 1942 U-69 sank the ferryboat S.S. Caribou, killing 126.) Maybe it was the fear and uncertainty of safe passage that instilled the "What if" factor within me. Reading became my passion. As a kid my knuckles were hit more than once, by the good nuns, for having my nose in a book instead of my eyes on the blackboard. This in turn set me up to want to write my own stories, but life, marriage, family, and carreer got in the way. Now, with family grown, and retired, I have put fingers to the keyboard and opened the box of "What Ifs". Enjoy.

This book has a strong narrative drive with emotional power and an orginal voice. M. A. Lachine has taken great care in describing, and motivating her charaacters by putting them in realistic surroundings. The characters dialogue and body language tell the story. Cause & Effect is a fast-paced time travel adventure, a page turner that both adult and young adult readers will find highly entertaining.

MA Lachine has given us a well written and exciting story. The main character, Rosemary Cooper NYPD detective is not your average cop. She's got brains, guts, and a love of food. Her flaws are what make you love her.
Time travel is always interesting, made more so when Rosemary runs across old friends and family members. Highly recommend this read.
