About the Author
A wife, mother, and author, Patti McKenna brings real-life experience to everything she writes. With a background in business, education, and the legal profession, she has a diverse background that lends itself to her writing. International and best-selling authors have contracted with Patti McKenna to write articles and books, from self-help to motivational, and from informational to autobiographies. As a ghostwriter and copywriter, Patti has penned memoirs, self-help and personal and professional development books, business articles, and has been a feature writer for magazines. In October, 2007, her story about her mother s fight with cancer was published in Voices of Breast Cancer (LaChance Publishing), a book of anthologies written by people who have been affected by the disease. As a co-author, Chicago s WGN Talk Radio included her on a panel during their breast cancer awareness special. It is her creative writing, however, that has earned her notoriety among her clients in the personal and professional development realm, and one which lends itself to her first book, Caution: Children Should Come With Warning Labels. Her research for the book was exhaustive and extensive, encompassing 23 years of parenting four daughters. Her husband, Patrick, asserts that she thinks differently than others, and she uses that perspective and humor to marry words in a voice that is entirely her own. Patti also delves into lyric writing on occasion and has co-written songs with award-winning songwriters. Of her personal and professional experiences, Patti attributes motherhood as being the most significant, and one which taught her the most valuable lessons. Parenthood is an education that lasts over 18 years, and although it can be difficult, she believes that the key is to keep everything in perspective. As Patti states, Being overwhelmed takes the joy out of life. But a greater tragedy would be to spend life underwhelmed. I m grateful to my children for giving me so many years of laughter and love. Patti McKenna is a lifelong resident of Kankakee, Illinois, where she and her husband, Pat, reside. They have four daughters, Samantha, Heather, Meridith, and Emily. Her hobbies include writing for fun, reading, golfing, gardening, and attending her children s sports events.
