Valuable land record resource, February 9, 2007
This review is from: Cavaliers and Pioneers: Abstracts of Virginia Land Patents and Grants, Vol. 4 (Hardcover)
This is a minefield of information for the historical or genealogical researcher. Here is listed the land patents granted in Virginia from 1732-1741 -- including date, cost, size, location, and, of course, the one seeking the patent.
While these records may be tedious and uninteresting to some readers, they are of the greatest value to one searching for the names of men who settled in an area, or looking for where an individual may have acquired land, or simply wondering what was settled when, and how large the tracts were.
Again, this is simply a compilation of land grants, not a story or a description of people! For that very reason, however, it is so useful...
