Editorial Reviews

Review

The Korean conflict was a hard-fought, little appreciated, landwar in Asia. The 3rd Platoon of Company "A" made headlines in U. S. newspapers as being the first American unit to cross the 38th Parallel on the ground. The Engineers, weeping for mines, led American tanks across the border. This book is a testament to courage, competence, and the incredible battlefield story of an American combat engineering platoon. "The attacking NK continued to assault Melvin Brown's position atop the wall. He exhausted his ammunition and grenades. He bandaged his shoulder wound. Now, he calmly drew his entrenching shovel from his pack and waited till they one by one peered over the wall. Then he delivered a crushing blow on each of their heads. His daring action so inspired his platoon that they repelled the attack. " And this is just one small sample of an incredible series of incidents in the Korean War. The 1st Cavalry Division And Their 8th Engineers Is Korea is easy to pick up, and hard to put down! -- Midwest Book Review
