Editorial Reviews

Review

Starting with anatomy and physiology of the horse's foot, pastern and legs, the 128-page book is packed with beautifully drawn illustrations. But the illustrations aren't only for the anatomy portions. Instead, the book is chock-full of pictures and diagrams, covering everything from shoeing tools, making shoes from bar stock, applying Borium, specialty shoeing and caring for bare feet. It also delves into shoeing specific types of horses including the riding horse, polo ponies, hunters and jumpers and draft animals. While shoeing methods come and go, this book focuses on the ways that have worked for centuries. -- American Farriers Journal, March/April, 2000
