Product Description

The CADA-SA2-H Series offers an unbeatable combination of RAID data protection, 3.0Gbit/sec eSATA speed and a vast storage capacity of 2 TB (1 TB mirrored). This dual-bay disk array features swappable hard disks and a built-in RAID controller. The unit arrives preconfigured in RAID 1 to protect your important data—if one drive fails, replace it with an identical drive and the data will automatically rebuild. Leave it in RAID 1 mode for automatic background rebuilding and optimum security for your files, or configure to RAID 0 for increased data reading and writing speeds. Factory default is RAID 1 GUI mode, but also supports RAID levels 0, 1 and 0+1(safe 33/safe 50). Its SATA interface provides a faster boot process and quicker loading of programs and data. Ideal for saving hefty files, video, music, protecting databases or working directly on the drive, it delivers high-capacity performance and data security. The unit is factory pre-configured in RAID 1 and ready to use out of the box. Install the easy-to-use RAID configuration software and the included SATA to eSATA bracket kit to take full advantage of the incredible set of features.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect external for DierTV, April 20, 2008

This review is from: Cavalry 2 TB USB/eSATA RAID Disk (Personal Computers)
Connected the eSATA cable to my HR21 receiver and began recording HD movies and programs flawlessly. The only complaint is the anoyingly bright lights on the front panel.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worse than the plague, February 11, 2009

This review is from: Cavalry 2 TB USB/eSATA RAID Disk (Personal Computers)
When I installed my drive into a Dell 8400, Pentium 4, 3ghz, 4gb ram, Windows XP computer by eSATA the unit would beep and continue to beep until I turned it off. I sent it back and got a replacement; same thing. I contacted Cavalry support and they said that sometimes the drives get damaged in shipping and they had me reset the drive (push button) and the drive re-built itself. After the reset (took about 9-hours) the drive would still beep most of the time, but not all of the time, but for a long-time. I checked out the Cavalry web site under troubleshooting and found that if the drive will not stop beeping, one of your drives appears to be defective. I sent that drive back also. Better to be poked in the eye with a sharp stick than to get two defective drives. Try something else. Note* I did not purchase this drive from Amazon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Value but on the noisy side, September 19, 2008

I use this drive in Raid 1 for my digital photos. The drive is a good value for this purpose.

If you have a spare SATA port in your computer, this drive comes with all stuff necessary to hook it up in the esata configuration, and you don't have to buy anything else. However its fan is fairly loud all the time, even if the computer itself is turned off. I find it a little annoying at times. This is the only reason I didn't rate it with 5 stars.
