Editorial Reviews

Review

This fast-paced mystery is well-served by the author's missionary-kid experiences growing up in South America. Jenny and Justin Parker's adventures in Bolivia are filled with fascinating details of modern-day people and places, along with Incan history and culture, which adds authenticity beyond what's typical of this genre. (CBA Marketplace 20040603)

. . . a definite page turner. (Trisha Bridges Unity in Christ 20040603)

A nice read for middle school children that will keep them turning pages and anxious for book two. Recommended. (Christian Library Journal 20040603)

An exciting adventure full of suspense and action along with a little faith. (Kids Bookshelf )

Exciting reading! (My Christian Bookshelf )

Teen readers familiar with Bill Meyers Forbidden Doors, and Sigmund Brouwer's adventure books will be easily persuaded to read this series as well. (Christian Library Journal )

From the Author

I myself grew up overseas in the countries and places described in my books. My parents were missionaries in Colombia. My own childhood was spent canoeing up and down the jungle rivers, flying in Cessna to boarding school in Venezuela, hiking up the Andes mountains and into the jungles of South America. My hope for the Parker Twin series is that each book , along with its exciting mystery/suspense story, will teach solid values and open children's minds to a great, exciting world of other peoples and cultures not so different under the surface than our own. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

This review is from: Cave of the Inca Re (The Parker Twins Series, Book 1) (Paperback)
A good solid, page-turning story. It held my interest all the way through. There's a mild competition between the Christian God and the God of the Incas, but this is a subplot. The main plot is detective-work exciting, with frequent dangerous situations confronting the twins, along with threats of violence. Lot of suspense.

This would be a fun read for any 9-12 youth, and for some older young people as well.

If your family is Christian, this story, as well as others in the Parker Twins Series, are especially appropriate, in that each story affirms Christian values and outlook without getting preachy.
