Book Description

August 28, 2003
Cavemen in the Kitchen is the title of a dating aid/cookbook for men who are low on cash and in need of impressing dates and significant others in new, unique, and inexpensive ways. Cavemen will soon pleasantly shock dates with something they create in that room called the ‘kitchen’ and no longer be seen as typical cavemen vying for the favors of their dates. Instead, they will be mistaken for more evolved men with class, sophistication, flair, and an appreciation for things other than hotdogs, football, baseball, and other Neanderthal delights.

Recipes use no more than 6 ingredients (are an extreme departure from the common ‘caveman’ creations like chili on a bun and fried cheese with mayonnaise dipping sauce), are healthy, easy to make, present very well, and are very tasty. The time needed to cook and prepare each recipe is included so cavemen can plan accordingly. A section on wines and beers is included too, so appropriate meal/libation combinations can be made without apprehension.

In essence, this cookbook is the Cliff Notes on preparing entire gourmet meals for cavemen and their dates. It will be a shortcut to culinary expertise and notoriety for the caveman audience. By using the book, the users will accomplish their dating goals: they will distance themselves from the other cavemen, they will provide a meal for a date, and will succeed in getting dates to their caves, houses or apartments (without ‘see-through’ excuses, begging, or whacks to the date’s head with a club).

About the Author

Ron started life in Charlottesville, VA and has lived in several parts of the United States. When people hear the number of times he has moved, the question invariably arises as to whether or not he was an ‘Army Brat.’ There is only a half-truth there and that is found by dropping ‘Army’; unless, you consider ‘Army of Darkness.’

After moving with his parents for several years, Ron continued his nomadic ways, which were spurred by his mother’s finding out where he currently lived. In the process of changing dwellings and never getting rental deposits back (which he claims were never his fault), Ron’s financial status required that he start cooking for himself, as he could not afford eating out. This resulted in his quickly getting bored with Top Ramen and deciding to get creative in the kitchen. Soon, a list of recipes with a limited number of inexpensive ingredients started coming together.

Another situation Ron encountered with his moves was that he was always new to an area and unfamiliar with the customs and techniques used to lure the ladies of that new area. One constant (Ron noticed in all places he moved) was that if you had cash, the majority of the ladies would overlook your area-specific ignorance of social norms and practices. Well, he didn’t have the cash and was too impatient to learn the customs so he set out to create his own ‘Lady Luring’ techniques.

It clicked when he ended up at a date’s house and as both were hungry but too tired to go out somewhere, Ron dug through her cabinets, found some items to work with, and created a meal for both. She loved it and the results of the meal were amazing in ways those under 18 should not hear about. Cavemen in the Kitchen has been several years in the making and the recipes are the collection of those years.

oh this was my idea, well my wifes thought I should create a cookbook.
my idea was one for the single guy that defined how to take basic stuff and make it excellent and also what should be paired with what. The Cookbook to get you laid.

because to be honest that's why I started cooking, works to, even after you say I do.

4.0 out of 5 stars A must have for men who know their garage better then their kitchen, June 25, 2007
This review is from: Cavemen in the Kitchen: A Man's Dating Aid/Cookbook (Paperback)
This book came out in 2002, but I just bought it today. OMG. hilarity.

And not just funny, but honest.

Men (or dykes), learn how to make easy to create dishes with less than 6 ingredients each.

What wines (and beers) go with what you are serving.

How to make something simple seem more special.

and... learn it all while looking at lovely pics of women.

The recipies are cheap, easy, and having done some of these in the past, they work. This guy explains cooking concepts in ways that make sense to many cavemen I know:

the spices are kinda like the hood scoops on a '69 GTO, they provide just a little stylish addition and performance.

I'm amused, and I think I finally found a deviled egg recipie I actually understand. Ok, I still think deviled eggs are nasty, but at least I get this recipe if I had to make them, in fact, I think I now have it memorized. It's funny, I've been cooking since I was 5, and went to formal cooking lessons as an early teen... but funny cookbooks still win me over.

If you have someone who knows tools for the garage better than tools in the kitchen, and they like looking at girlies, consider this fun book :) Who knows, they might break down and make you bruchetta (he describes them as italian salsa on some toast, but more likely to get you laid if you call it brew-she-ta) or paella (he describes it as the original italian leftover dish, how true- but it sounds sexier to say it's pie-a-uh).
