5.0 out of 5 stars Holy Moly!, March 12, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Cavestarr (Audio CD)
This Album I found by chance, In a heap of Disks. It blew me away.
1997. It is really deep. I rarely like "electronica music"
it seems to be a kind of Future Ambient world music. there are programmed and hand played instruments with amazing structue. I have played this damn disk over 20 times this last week. Very moody and dark stuff. The 10 songs are about 5 minutes, and only 3 have vocals. After research I found out the artist has no other albums, and the label "mindspore records" seems to be gone!?!

5.0 out of 5 stars little known secret, February 5, 2000

This album is unknown to most people. It took me a while to find an album by them after hearing their stunning song Quiet Light off the Third Barramundi Sampler. I'm not sure if there is an album before this one but if anyone knows where I can find the album with Quiet Light on it I would be in your debt. This album has an ambient sound similar to most of the albums on Waveform records (one of my favorite record outfits for ambient music). This album is worth the price of admission for a journey into another world.I hope they put out a new album soon

5.0 out of 5 stars A Truly Great, Little-Known Ambient/Electronic Record, October 26, 2007
This review is from: Cavestarr (Audio CD)
Cavestar is evidently largely the work of Kevin Crosslin, a studio artist who in the late 90s created this moody and truly beautiful ambient/electronic sonic wonder that for me has been a great accompaniment for creative & introspective work, a record that I literally play over and over and over. It has a touch of the Arabic to its sonic explorations, very similar in that sense to My Life in the Bush of Ghosts by Byrne and Eno about a generation before. In fact this record is truly the closest thing to My Life in the Bush of Ghosts that I've ever heard in terms of its tone & mood. Standout tracks include the 3rd through 6th tracks and the 8th through the 10th. The 2nd and 7th are vocal tracks and in fact are the least interesting to me, but especially tracks 4, 5, and 6 are classic IMO. Put this one on and soon you too will be chanting giddily about "Meteorites, Weather Balloons, Hallucinations, Optical Illusions" :)
