Great summer album!,
By "bob613" (Qc, Canada) - See all my reviews

These guys were originally called Fig Dish. Did you ever heard of Fig Dish ? That was the problem. The two albums recorded as Fig Dish (That's What Love Songs Often Do and When Shove Goes Back to Push) contained clever catchy songs but they didn't get much attention. Now they've changed their name to Caviar and they're back with even catchier songs and even more clever lyrics. This is a really fun album that you just have to listen in the summer. There isn't a bad song on here, so I won't detail every one of them. I just want to point out the fun Tangerine Speedo, the energetic Sugarless and the surprisingly beautiful Looked So Hard I Nearly Wrecked My Eyes. Call it catchy power-pop, call it summer music, whatever... Just make sure it comes to you when you do call it.

This is how music should sound!,
By Thornton F. Cole "evilsailor9" (Chicago or an airport near you) - See all my reviews

Take one of the most clever songwriters since Paul Westerberg or Alex Chilton and then make him mad and you have Caviar frontman Blake Smith. Out of the ashes of Chicago legends Fig Dish, springs new Island Def Jam artists Caviar. Their self-titled debut album features songs many fans of Arbitron giant Q101 (WKQX) are likely familiar with including the fun, sassy, bossa nova tinged "Tangerine Speedo" and the pure bravado-fest "Flawed Like A Diamond." The song "Sugarless", featured on the "Gone in 60 Seconds" soundtrack rocks with Ramones like riffs from beginning to end and brings to bare the cockiness of any early Oasis song. These guys are to be believed---pure unadulterated music talent with the kind of swagger not seen since the 70's. Buy this album now---you'll thank me later!

The only speedo ive ever liked,

First hearing Tangerine Speedo on Q101, Chicago, it was awesome. I purchased it for a dollar and a cent, but its definetely worth more than that. It has some great DJ beats, and although they may not be big right now, they're such a great band, they cant stand long without recognition. Seeing them live proved a worthy experience. In Chicago, they are allready big, but I dont think it can be long until every knows this band.Hopefully, your planning on buying this CD. There are songs for every one. Harder rock and softer tones. They mix every popular element of todays music and come out with an original blend. BUY THIS CD!!! PS- Even if you dont like caviar, buy Caviar! get it??? eh eh eh eh eh

CAVIAR DELIVERS MUCH MORE THAN EXPECTED ON THEIR DEBUT CD!!,
By Brett (Encinitas, CA) - See all my reviews

With the already popular hit "tangerine speedo" caviar is starting to get a fair share of radio airtime. But if your worried that "tangerine speedo" will be the only song worth listening to on this Cd, YOUR WRONG! This Cd is so good the band is being put on movie soundtracks including Charlies Angels and Gone in 60 Seconds. CAVIAR will make a great gift for yourself or your tangerine speedo lover.

Very underrated,

I've listened to this CD for years and I never get tired of it. It's so much fun. The range of musical styles covered on this CD is incredible--from one song to another, sometimes within the same song-- they switch from power-pop to alt-rock, indie-rock, heavy riffs, catchy melodies, clever and goofy lyrics; it's insane. It's almost impossible to label this album. If I had to, I'd probably call it Power-indie-pop. Very catchy and cool.

Lots of Fun... Lounge Lizard Meets 'M',
By A Customer
This review is from: Caviar (Audio CD)
This fun-sounding music has a beat that you are really going to enjoy. From the suggestive-lyrics in Goldmine and Flawed Like a Diamond to the laughable and singable tunes in Tangerine Speedo, there is a bit of something for everybody (except maybe your mother) on here. Definitely a good add for your collection!

Great CD, Greatly Underrated,
By Tristan Sapp (Los Angeles, CA, USA) - See all my reviews

I bought this CD after hearing a couple songs and deciding that even if it was just those two songs I bought it for it'd be cool. To my great surprise there wasn't a single dud on the CD. Songs like Goldmine and Tangerine Speedo are totally over-rated, jaded, Don Juan anthems, whilst "The Times Are Over" and "I Thought I Was Found" are the type of song where you park the car, lower the seats and pull back the sunroof or take the top down and put the moves on that girl you've been wooing. Then you and your buds can rock out (and brag about your manliness) to "Flawed Like A Diamond" later that night in celebration! Can't lose. Buy now.

A bombshell,
By Colin S. Smith (New Haven, Connecticut United States) - See all my reviews

It amazes me that this group has not had more publicity and become a household name yet. Why hasn`t their producer or record company done more to market this group? They have more talent and wit than 99% of contemporary pop or alternative rock groups. The first three songs on this CD are outstanding, and the rest are all definitely worth listening to. I first found out about Caviar from the Charlies Angels soundtrack. Tangerine Speedo is the best track on that particular CD. And when I bought Caviar`s CD, I was amazed to find that every song is really good. I can`t wait for their next CD! And please, somebody, do something to give this group more exposure on the radio and MTV.

Not original, but well executed...,
By steve (Chicago, IL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Caviar (Audio CD)
Caviar sound similar to many of the alt-rock bands saturating the airwaves -- this could be any one of the 100 bands in Chicago's Q101 rotation. But while their sound may not be unique, it's well executed. Big hooks, lots of melody, and two-part and harmonies are present throughout the disk. Sounds something akin to a Blink182, Matchbox 20, Smash Mouth, etc. The track that made it into the "60 seconds" film, incidentally, is not the best here.

Lookout bored rock fans -- here comes Chicago's own Caviar. This witty compilation of lyrics and melodies will put some bite back into your appetite. Finally, an albulm worth listening to from start to finish...take this ride to partyville. Now stop reading this, slap on your Speedo, and dip into the wallet to purchase this goldmine. These catchy riffs will be rocking in your head all the way down to the nearest 7-11.
