Can't get enough Miss Read,
This review is from: The Caxley Chronicles (Paperback)
Miss Read's books are so warm, friendly, humorous. Have been able to acquire most of her books and wish she was still writing!

This review is from: The Caxley Chronicles (Paperback)
Follows two merchant families in Caxley, a thriving market town near Fairacre. As usual, Miss Read describes their ups and downs in vivid detail, allowing us to commisserate and rejoice with them. The reader gets a glimpse of small-town life in an England that no longer exists, and we are the poorer for its demise.

This review is from: The Caxley Chronicles (Kindle Edition)
This is a great book following several generations of people in Caxley - those of you familiar with Miss Read know where this is! But, even if you've never read Miss Read before, this book is nice. It's a great mellow read full of gritty events just as in real life.
