4.0 out of 5 stars songwriting progression, March 28, 2003
This review is from: Ceci N'Est Pas (Audio CD)
I saw Recover live and they floored me.... this EP unfortunately lacks the punch or visceral intensity of their live show, and is more or less a total departure from Rodeo and Picasso. Still, these guys can write a good song, and all 5 of these will end up stuck in your head. "My Only Cure" and "Push Push" are upbeat, infectious rock with a touch of 'emo'. If you get a chance to see them, go.

5.0 out of 5 stars BUY THIS ALBUM NOW, November 29, 2008

This album is one of the best rock records I've heard in years. And guess what? It was recorded six years ago! This album is a sleeper and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes rock music. The songs and arrangements are amazing and the energy to this album blows me away. I was familiar with Dan Keyes already from his Young Love project, but later learned that this was the band he sang in before Young Love existed. This album showed me that Dan Keyes is an incredible talent and that his band mates in Recover are the collaborative team that truly help him shine as a vocalist. Buy this album now. Trust me, you won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Our little Recover is all growed up now., November 12, 2003

I just got a copy of Ceci... for my birthday. I've been a big Recover fan since I heard "Elimination" on Road Fools 9 a year or so ago and went out and bought myself a copy of Rodeo & Picasso. I realize I'm pretty late getting this one, but I'm way, way happy with it. It has all the things I grew to love about Recover, in tightly measured doses... with texture, harmony, and subtlety thrown in, gratis. I've never seen them live, missed my most recent chance--and will not let that happen again.
