This thing is very well built, sturdy, and easy to install.

Like others have mentioned a thinner bar would give you a better grip but I have had no problems with this one.

I purchased this pull up bar to compliment my home gym. This bar is made from solid construction piping and is very sturdy. The product comes with all the necessary hardware to mount to the ceiling however you will need a socket set and a power drill to pre-drill holes for the bolts. It was not hard at all to put up and I use it a couple times a week during my workouts. I would recommend this product to others.

I have had this chin up bar hanging in my basement for a couple of years now and it is still as sturdy as the day I installed it. I have it installed to open joists so install was pretty easy. The product itself is 5 stars, but I had to take a star off because they did a cheap paint job on it. The black paint started chipping right away so I just ended up sanding off all the paint. The silver underneath actually looks much better, and more authentic.

Not disappointed in the least bit. Easy to install, 30 minutes or so, with two sizes of wrenches and one drill bit. Once installed this thing won't budge, with 9' ceilings I have to jump a little to the bar and it didn't flinch (1' stool is fine which many would need on any bar). Like others, company shipped extremely fast (one reviewer may have been a odd mishap?).

Bars are solid and seem to be built for punishment, not some weird cheap alloy, but USA made. I'll pay for that quality any day.

Some may miss the cushion grips but you can buy those or use a towel if you want. In my opinion they are disposable and are usually cheap and wear off quickly so it wasn't a big issue to me.

Will buy from this company again. If you are ok putting a couple holes in the ceiling or have a basement with exposed joists, go for it!

I have to say that I really like this chin up bar. Installation was very simple. I would never describe myself to other people as "handy around the house." So, the fact that I was able to install it BY MYSELF with a ladder and a couple of tools really speaks volumes about the simplicity in installing this bad boy. (I did have the benefit of being able so see the joists in the attic as I installed the bar in my garage. Also, I would strongly recommend using a second pair of hands to do this.)

I absolutely recommend buying the Valeo ab straps. They work really well with the bar.

The only reason that I cannot give this product 5 stars is because I don't understand why they have the perpendicular grips (I'm not sure what they are called) so far away. In the bars that I've used at the gym, or the door-frame bar that I used to own, the perpendicular grips are much, much closer together. I'm 5'10 and I'm not sure I can even reach the grips that jut out towards me (much less use them to exercise). Having said all that--I didn't regularly use the perpendicular grips anyways.

The only reason i didnt give this all 5 stars is because the bar doesnt have the best grips. The bar is really smooth and its just my personal preference to have it a little more "rough" so i can hold on to it better.

This is a heavy duty chin up bar. I am very pleased with it. Shipping from the East coast to California was much faster than estimated or expected. Great transaction.

The welds and paint finish are good quality. I am glad it doesn't have foam grips to slip or deteriorate.

I installed through a sheetrock ceiling. You don't want the large lag bolts off-center in the joists, so I found the exact center with a series of holes drilled with a small bit in my power drill to find the edges of the joist.
-
I used a 1/4" drill for the pilot hole, which is a tight fit for the lag bolts. I used bar soap on the threads to make it easy-enough to turn the lags.

Arrived to California in 12 days....a bit slow. Bar gets banged up in shipping. Paint is pretty beat up and chipped. No problem though unless it will be outside where it can rust. The biggest bummer was it is missing 2 nuts and 2 washers. Since my studs are 24" appart I too will have to mount it to 2x4's or something. I e-mailed them tonight about the missing parts...I hope they send them quickly.
