I purchased this with the Handles for Ceiling Mount Chin up Bar. I didn't have the right size drill bits so I had to improvise a bit making the installation take me a bit longer than it should have. I spent about an hour installing the bar.
I also did it myself as well which made things more difficult. I recommend having someone assist you with keeping the bar steading while you work.

The bar is very strong and the width is great. I can get wider chin-ups on this bar than I have been able to get with any of my previous chin up bars.

The only issue I have is that when using the optional hammer grip/handles I can hear the ceiling joist flex a bit. I would not be surprised if I didn't lose chunks of wood when this bar one day breaks off of the ceiling. This is not a problem when using the bar itself. I can do corn-cob pull ups on the bar without any movement or shifting, but when using the hammer grips I feel the wood flexing. I can control this a bit by keeping my hands as far inside, or close to the bar as possible. I may just skip using them altogether... The further out I get on the handles the more flex I feel. I'm a lean 210lbs and I couldn't find any weight warnings on the instructions and figure it should be able to handle my bodyweight just fine.

My wife complains about the roughness of the bar since it has no padding. We picked up some weight lifting gloves for her and she is fine now.

Overall I give this 4 stars and would recommend it without the hammer grips/optional handles.

The item shipped the next day after ordering and arrived two days later. The packaging was good and the installation instructions where easy to follow. It was up and functional within 10 minutes. The finish is nice and the bar size is perfect and very comfortable. I look forward to using it with the P90X workout!

I had looked into constructing my own but this turned out to be cheaper and I would bet it is much safer than what I had in mind!
