It is easy to use and does just what the manufacturer claims.

I can leave the phone on the holder and use the bluetooth headset to answer calls and chat and walk around, since my bluetooth headset has a much greater range.

It also allows for charging provided you connect to the USB port or purchase an adaptor.

There are several proven ways to boost cell phone signals. Some US wireless carriers provide a solution of their own, including MicroCell (AT&T), Network Extender (Verizon), and Airave (Sprint). These products are often cheaper but not designed for portable use, does not work with other phones from other carriers, require broadband Internet access, and for Sprint, require additional monthly plan.

CelLynx 5BARz Road Warrior addresses all the previous issues. Included in the box are: extender (smaller than most WiFi routers), car cigarette adapter/stand, AC adapter (for indoor use), phone holder, iGo universal charging cable, and 4-page instructions manual. Phone holder can be used to hold your phone in the car as well as at home. It has adjustable clasps to securely hold various phones, such as iPhone, Blackberry, and Nokia. Rear stand is very fragile, however. It comes off very easily when opening.

Setting up 5BARz is very easy, but 4-page manual omits many important details. According to the manual, all you have to do is connect the unit to the power source, phone holder into the unit, then slide the ON switch on the phone holder.

What it does not mention:

1. Charging your phone: To charge your phone, you have two options. (1) Purchase iGo adapter designed for your phone model, then attach it to included iGo-to-USB cable or (2) if your phone uses USB for charging, plug the cable directly into the holder's USB port.

Do you have problems with cell phone reception where you live? I do, and the 5BARz Road Warrior claims to fix it.

According to the manufacturer:

Just plug in 5BARz when you need a boost. 5BARz is your cell phone booster solution!

* Faster Internet services, including 3G
* Stronger signals and better reception
* Say Goodbye to weak signals and dropped calls
* Designed as a personal portable solution to droped cellular calls and no or slow cellular internet

Does it do this? In my experience.....not really.

The cell phone coverage (AT&T) where I live is terrible. We're nestled up about 1 block away from some small foothills and must be in between cell tower nodes because the strength meter will change between 1-3 bars in various parts of the house. Coverage is better in the back yard.

The 5Barz Road Warrior (MSRP $299.00) consists of:

- the 5Barz Road Warrior box (I'll abbreviate to 5BRW)
- 12V power adapter gooseneck (for car use)
- cell phone cradle (adjusts to various widths of phones) that has a "kickstand"
- AC power adapter

I'll cover home use in this review.

Installation is easy: plug in the AC adapter, fully extend the connection cable from the 5BRW box to the cradle, turn on. That's it. You have to be within 2 feet of the phone holder for this to work.

Phone: iPhone 3GS
Carrier: AT&T

INTERNET SPEED:
Sitting within 2 feet of the cradle, I logged onto [...] to test the cellular internet speed.

I tested the speed over a 2 day period, the results were averaged:

5Barz "Off" (26 connections):
Download speed: 456.9 kbps
Upload speed: 64.8 kbps
Bars: 1.

They don't call it 5Barz for nothing! After trying cheaper alternatives I dropped the money for this unit and I could not be more pleased. I work in a large steel building and the best part about this unit is I don't have to run cables for antennas or anything, just plug it in, keep your phone in the holder and get 5bars all day long. I typically get 0-2 bars max in this building and I'm missing calls all the time. A 10 minute conversation used to turn into a 3 call back situation, but I have yet to drop a call since I started using this unit. I've even used it in the car and it stayed on 5bars there as well.
FYI: I use a iPhone w/AT&T
Only issue I've noticed is that the base unit generates quite a bit of heat if you leave it plugged in, so I always unplug it when I'm not in need of the extra antenna boost.

This amazing little device was a simple way to fix the problem that I was having with my cell phone in my home and with dropped calls in my car! There is one small spot in the back of my home that doesn't get any service due to the woods and there are always dropped calls. I'm lucky if I can get one bar. Not any more. I just put the cell phone in the holder and if I'm in that room, I obviously don't need to go out of the two foot boundary and I get a full five bars! To me, that's an amazing difference and since I started using this product, I haven't had one dropped call!

You can do the same thing while driving with your cell phone, which I love. I absolutely hate those areas that I have to drive through and need to make an important call but know that I lose service there. So, I used to purposely avoid making calls until I was passed them. Once I got 5BARz I knew it would be the perfect time to try it out and see if I really got 5 bars in the areas where I normally get dropped calls or no service at all. Since I don't have a very large car (such as an SUV, Minivan, etc.) I am well within the two foot radius. Every call I've made with my cell phone in my car, and believe me when I tell you it's been non-stop, especially since I've gotten 5BARz, there hasn't been one dropped call!

Another reason I love having 5BARz with me in my car is that if I'm out alone, especially at night, I no longer have to worry that if something happens and I'm in an area that doesn't get service, I won't be able to call for help or for a service truck, which is extremely important to me.
