I'm amazed that the author is offering this collection of tales so cheap. I've come to expect a quick cup of tea for more than a buck, so to be able to sit down and immerse myself in a new world with new characters for a few hours is worth more than that.
the author has created just that. The world may be vaguely familiar, being earth like with humanly characters populating it, but that's what I really enjoyed, that feeling that it was comfortable and that the characters could be from a distant past, and that they could have/and did have the same concerns and worries as me. Well...sort of.
It had all the elements I love in good fiction: great characters, good writing, and stories that captured my attention; it also had so much more: a little bit of sorcery, fanciful thievery, golum type androids....*delightful shiver*
Reading this novel was like lying in bed at night as a child letting someone tell me a great story that could go anywhere or do anything. There was magic in that, and there's magic in this collection.
I'm looking forward to the next installment.
