5.0 out of 5 stars A complete guide for "green" living, October 15, 2008
This review is from: Celebrate Green (Perfect Paperback)
This book is filled with an amazing amount of eco-tips, facts, gift ideas, activities, games, DIY projects, crafts and recipes that go well beyond what this EcoWarrior has ever thought of. The book's main objective is to help you become more ecologically aware of alternatives when celebrating holidays throughout the year. However, there's more to it than that. Corey and Lynn also help you discover new ways to "green up" weddings, graduations, birthdays and office parties.

"Celebrate Green!" is not just about the holidays, though. It's a "green guide" for daily living by giving simple ways to go through life with a lighter footstep.

This review is from: Celebrate Green (Perfect Paperback)
You really don't have to go much further than this book to get ideas for celebrating green. Going Green doesn't have to be as overwhelming as some may think. You don't have to do it overnight, that's why "Celebrate Green" is such a great book to follow and start slow. This year because of "Celebrate Green", bayside.macaronikid.com will be celebrating their first Green Holiday, Halloween Green!

5.0 out of 5 stars Creative and Practical, August 31, 2011
This review is from: Celebrate Green (Perfect Paperback)
Lynn and Corey are two amazing ladies! My first thought as I read the tips in the book was: "Where in the world did they get all those great ideas?" My second thought was, "I can actually use many of those ideas myself." So I set out creating a mostly green wedding for my son and his now wife. I planted about fifty pots of flowers for tables, leading a path into the forest, etc. Recently I gave one of Lynn and Corey's books to my grand daughter's Montessori school and they are having fun with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous guide, filled with tips and ideas and humor, August 20, 2011
This review is from: Celebrate Green (Perfect Paperback)
Every time I go shopping, my family has to listen to me complain about all the packaging that comes with products. A new pair of shoes comes with paper stuffing, cardboard supports, plus the box itself. One of the toys I ordered online for the daycare came in a carton, surrounded by bubble wrap, and packaged in a cardboard box with a plastic window. I opened the box and pried no less than twelve plastic wire twists off the inner cardboard that held the toy down; the twists were threaded through six plastic bars, which were also covered by a plastic tape. Really? Really? Yes, really. It took me twenty minutes to remove the toy. Thank goodness I didn't have 8 kids staring up at me, waiting to play with it. Score one for me for waiting until daycare was over to open it. What a waste of time, money and resources! The kids loved the toy. I sliced my finger open on the plastic. Unbelievable.

Thanks to Corey Colwell-Lipson and Lynn Colwell for creating Celebrate Green! This book is filled with hundreds of ideas to make your holidays and celebrations green. Imagine knowing you never have to deal with the above scenario! Their ideas are practical, fun, and inexpensive. They have written a fabulous guide, filled with tips and ideas and humor.

Together this mother and daughter have revealed their secrets to keeping family traditions alive while protecting the planet, where to find the best green gifts, and my personal favorite - how to decorate like a pro without going broke! The next few months are filled with celebrations - Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, plus all five of my family members have a birthday between October and January. I'll be using this book's "six essential guidelines" to planning our celebrations! I really enjoyed reading this book. I bookmarked several recipes that I can't wait to try and I really loved all the personal stories tucked into this collection of eco-friendly ideas. The celebrations are not limited to just holidays either. There are great ideas to host green baby showers, weddings and graduations!

This amazing book is, of course, published on recycled paper and a portion of the proceeds from their book sales benefit Treeswing.org and HealthyChild.org. A sticker on the back of the book notes that a tree was planted for this book by Ecolibris.net. These clever ladies even made sure we have a place to write notes in the back of the book. 5.0 out of 5 stars Elegantly Simple, Yet Effective, August 23, 2010
By
Nuke (Edmonds, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Celebrate Green (Perfect Paperback)
Ok, so I was skeptical. I've seen so much green-washing, that I've become a bit of a cynic when approached by yet another Green movement. Everything in this book, though, just made sense.
But, instead of focusing on what we can't do, Celebrate Green aims squarely at what we CAN do - how we CAN celebrate, create joy, have fun with the kids, in ways that are better for the long term. Not only environmentally, but economically. Reducing waste, as every business will tell you, is the fastest way to save money, and these days, we all need a little help in that department.

I just checked, and there's a "Costume Swap Day" already scheduled in my downtown!

5.0 out of 5 stars Meaningful, Practical and Unique!, May 26, 2010
This review is from: Celebrate Green (Perfect Paperback)
Love the creative ideas in this book! These ladies are eco-experts and teach us how to take the commercialism out of the holidays and put the meaning back in family get-togethers. I love that they touch on every day celebrations too - at work, at home, at family reunions - not just the major holidays. Their sites and blogs are just as helpful with even more inexpensive and practical suggestions for being more kind to the earth (and saving money along the way). This book is a resource you'll refer back to time and time again .... and "wow" your family / friends with your unique parties! Vicky from VickyandJencom

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Resource, December 3, 2009
This review is from: Celebrate Green (Perfect Paperback)
I had a chance to read your book this past weekend and I am SOOO impressed. Well written and valuable information in so many different areas. It must have been a huge job to compile! Informative summaries make the jewelry issues so easy to understand. Many small jewelers are confused. They want to do the right thing but just don't know how -the news bites we hear from watch-dog organizations make it even more confusing. Thanks for spelling it all out plain and simple.
