5.0 out of 5 stars 190 Years of the U.S.Marine Band June 27, 2012
Format:Audio CD
This is a fascinating document certain to have wide appeal. It celebrates an American institution which we tend to take for granted. The individual sessions date back to the end of the 19th century. The refinement in sound reproduction in the tracks laid down between 1890 and 1927 is dramatic. The accomplished transcriptions of selections by Liszt, Suppe and Berlioz are rousing fun. Finally, there are two little patriotic gems worth noting, "Concord" and "God of Our Fathers". Well worth investigating
