Review

Simply said, this book is about observing special moments in life without the usual overspending. Pugh uses her experience as a facilitator of women's growth circles to show readers how to set the stage for celebrations marking the starts; (e.g., births, graduations), transitions; (e.g., coming of age, taking on a new role), and endings; (e.g., miscarriage, terminal illness) in life. Each celebration guide incorporates steps for exploring options, planning what to do, and letting expectations go in order to maximize the enjoyment of the moment. A warm, inspiring collection of ideas. --Library Journal

A celebration is something to be cherished on many levels, Celebrating Beginnings and Endings is a collection of advice for parents and families on how to restore the celebrations to family life on many levels. The tips advise readers on how to celebrate birthdays and other events, as well as find bonding even in the rougher situations of divorce ad family death. Celebrating Beginnings and Endings is a fine collection for families to bond with, very much recommended. --Midwest Book Review, Reviewer's Choice

As mothers, it is generally our responsibility to create and maintain traditions for our families. Celebrating Beginnings and Endings by Paula Pugh is a book that teaches us to unplug from all the electronics in our busy lives and focus on the people and events that happen. Milestones, she says, happen all the time. We can either celebrate them, or let them pass by without much thought. Yet, creating wonderful memories is one of the best ways we can leave our imprint on our children, our families, and our world. Paula's creative ideas show us ways to connect with others in new ways, celebrating and honoring the many beginnings, transitions, and endings in our lives. Many of her ideas cost little to no money, but leave a big heart-print. I really loved reading through this book and have marked many of the ideas. Instead of stressing over all the things I could (and should) have done, I'm planning for all the new celebrations.

Celebrating Beginnings and Endings. Oh that circle of life we all share. I adore how easy it is to tell someone how great it is to share their celebrations with them. And here there are so many ideas of how to help do just that. Right now I am in the Empty Nest stage of life. One that makes me laugh...empty nest. Heck my life is so full of purpose in sharing, caring and giving that I would never think of it as empty. I do want to mark this moment though. The time that my own girl called and said "Mom, clean out my room please. I do not want it there anymore. I love you, but I need that push to go out and start my own life." Wow! What affirmation of a job well done. I am so glad to have this book to help me share the stages of life with my family and friends.

This book is all about celebrating special moments in one's lives. What I loved about the book was that it was well broken down into categories that made sense and the information shared in all of the areas was practical and to the point. It held so many great ideas for how to celebrate these different moments that one could easily call this a reference manual in a way! The book truly encourages all to go beyond themselves and know how much being with others means, and through the ideas in this book, you will be able to create some special moments that all will appreciate and enjoy!
