5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent teaching / learning aid on Eucharist, February 15, 2007

I have used this book for several years now when working with adults learning about the Eucharist. It has everything I want: solid theology, pictures and explanations, and all of the parts of the mass. I use this with RCIA (new Catholics) and with adults who have been away from the church for a long time. I recommend it highly.

4.0 out of 5 stars A helpful guide for following the Mass, June 3, 2005

This book was very helpful to me as a convert to Catholicism in following the order of the Divine Liturgy. It gives the terms for the priest and deacon's vestments and for objects used during the Liturgy. It also includes illustrations for clarity. It has explanations sufficiently basic that an older child could understand, but it is written for adults. The most common prayers are provided in order of the Mass, but of course without the Scripture readings for particular days interspersed. For that reason, this book was easier for me to use to participate in the Mass than the regular missal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Broad but not deep, May 25, 2007

Basic and well done. Great reading for an RCIA program or for a high school confirmation class. Anyone looking for the theology or scriptural basis of the Mass, however, would be much better served by Dr. Hahn's book on the Mass, I believe it is called "Heaven on Earth". In all, though, I am glad I bought this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A solid in-depth book for a lay person to understand the Mass, August 10, 2006
By
This book takes the reader step by step through the Catholic Mass. It provides insight into each element of the Mass. I found it gave me a much deeper understanding of the meaning and purpose of each element of the Mass. It is easy reading by a very experienced writer who is a father. I now get more pleasure and understanding of attending a Mass as a result of reading this book.
