Wow! What a great book! I read it in a flash. It flows beautifully and the stories and poems are interesting and helpful. It even had some good suggestions for an old guy like me. I liked the conversational style with just the right amount of humor and kidding back and forth between the two authors. Their unusual writeing style was very effective and added to the enjoyment of the book. After reading the book Joan & Marc seem like my close friends.

Fianlly there is a realistic book about being single that is worth reading. Marc and Joan share their different voices in concert resulting in a book filled with spirit, knowledge, honesty and humor. It can make a mother proud enough to stop pushing marriage when it isn't in the cards. Highly reccommend.

As a 26 year old, unmarried WASP with the perfect older sister who is married to the perfect guy with the perfect new baby, I thought I was flawed. Recently, I picked this book up at my local bookstore, and I could not put it down. It is not a schlocky, cheesy self help book. It is a confidence builder. It is a teaching tool. Best yet, "Celebrating Single" gives you the permission to be happy with being single. Buy this book for yourself and all of your single friends!

Feel like wading hip deep though a serial-daters manifesto? Then this is for you.,
This review is from: Celebrating Single & Getting Love Right: From Stalemate to Soulmate (Capital Cares) (Paperback)
There's nothing in here that three or four episodes of Dr. Phil wouldn't clue you into. I'm having trouble extracting value, because the book is not exactly... well organized. I can tell that it was more fun to write than it is to read. I feel like I'm drowning in a turbid sea of gender stereotypes, bumper sticker sentiment, not-so-witty repartee and g*d-awful poetry, looking for the one fresh insight that is going to "cure" me of my misery. Unfortunately, reading the bazillionth book in a row on living single is not going to cut it. I'm already past the admitting-I-have-a-problem stage, so this book is not helping me. There has to be some way to effectively put these platitudes into practice, seeing as learning about a thing is very different from actually doing it. Sadly, that critical topic that is never broached. I'm not asking for twelve rigid steps to memorize or worksheets to fill out - just some pointers on how to begin. Obvious answer: see a therapist.

While the authors say this book is geared toward baby-boomers, as a 31 year old recently single woman, I still found it incredibly helpful. It takes the drama out of break-ups, and is a great reminder that life is about more than one's romantic partner. Very educational and comforting!

Inspirational, guiding and at times comforting. A bedside companion...a new found friend...a cat without the fur.

Among the plethora of self-help books on fixing a broken romance, Celebrating Single stands out as a relevant, brilliant, humorous, down-to-earth approach to improving one's self-esteem by finding the right mate, rather than settling for a dysfunctional relationship to avoid loneliness. It is a definite must-read for any adult. And it is highly readable. Joan and Marc's friendly, conversational styles--interspersed with testimonies from "real people" and poignant poetry--make this book an entertaining and riveting read. I look forward to seeing Celebrating Single on Oprah's Booklist some day.

I read the book celebrating single and getting love right in one day. I was rivited to it. The writing style was easy to follow and made it difficult to put down. The writers really came across truthful, and it is apparent that they really researched their topic well. I look forward to reading the next book written by Ms allen, and Dr kusinitz. This is a must have item. It is really helpful for the singles who keep making the same mistakes over and over in relationships, and are not happy with themselves. If you find that life is not going the way you would like for yourself, then Celebrating Single is the answer. I am giving this book as a gift for some of my friends.Oprah needs to add this one to her book list.

Joan and Marc wrote on an interesting subject in a different sort of style -- stories mixed with poetry. I'm married and I enjoyed reading this book! I shook my head at stories that could have been my own, as well as remember the joy of realizing love.
