Commemorating the millennium, this special 2000 Edition African American Celebration Barbie doll kicks off a new thousand-year cycle and, in turn, becomes a coveted collectible. Barbie appears in a fitted, backless bodice featuring vertical stripes of shining silver and randomly attached large silver snowflakes. A chic shawl neckline is made of fluffy white fur (a passable imitation of white mink) that hugs her neck and shoulders. But the skirt of the gown is the clincher, comprising four exquisite layers. The first two are a plain underskirt attached to a semipetticoat of glitter-encrusted lace. The third is a golden, satinlike fabric with a striking cutaway front. The top layer is a white mesh skirt that flares out from Barbie's trim waist and is decorated with generous amounts of glitter, more snowflakes, and a cutaway front. The gown is removable--thanks to a Velcro back panel--so Barbie can wear something else after the millennium buzz starts to wear off.

Barbie 2000--as gorgeous as ever--dons her hair and makeup in a simple but elegant fashion. Rich, formal colors coat her lips and eyes, accentuating a perfect smile and flawlessly arched eyebrows. Celebration Barbie is the 5th collectible African-American Barbie I've purchased for my 1 year old daughter, Genesis. I started an African-American doll collection several before my daughter was born which includes porcelain, cloth and vinyl dolls. I'd hoped to have a daughter to share this collection with and who would have a love of dolls as I do. So far Genesis loves looking (not touching) all her dolls. (I do have inexpensive dolls she may play with.) I believe these dolls will help her to see the beauty of herself so that she will be a positive and confident woman later in life. I really appreciate the fact that the Barbie dolls have African-American features, as opposed to just "painting" the doll brown. I plan on purchasing many more Barbies and would highly recommend them to others.

Oh, how I love this doll! Mattel did an EXCELLENT job on this Asha faced Barbie. Her facial paint is extraordinary. She truly looks like an African American queen. Her gown, jewelry and accessories all compliment her radiant skin tone. I love the ornament that came with the doll. And the packaging is excellent. Mattel has a definite winner with this one.

I bought this doll at a great deal. She is gorgeous. I like her full maroon painted lips, complexion, and nice features. She lasted a long time without her hair coming out of place too much. She is a winner!
