Commemorating the millennium, this special 2000 Edition Celebration Barbie doll kicks off a new thousand-year cycle and, in turn, becomes a coveted collectible. Barbie appears in a fitted, backless bodice featuring vertical stripes of shining silver and randomly attached large silver snowflakes. A chic shawl neckline is made of fluffy white fur (a passable imitation of white mink) that hugs her neck and shoulders. But the skirt of the gown is the clincher, comprising four exquisite layers. The first two are a plain underskirt attached to a semipetticoat of glitter-encrusted lace. The third is a golden, satinlike fabric with a striking cutaway front. The top layer is a white mesh skirt that flares out from Barbie's trim waist and is decorated with generous amounts of glitter, more snowflakes, and a cutaway front. The gown is removable--thanks to a Velcro back panel--so Barbie can wear something else after the millennium buzz starts to wear off.

Barbie 2000--as gorgeous as ever--dons her hair and makeup in a simple but elegant fashion. Rich, formal colors coat her lips and eyes, accentuating a perfect smile and flawlessly arched eyebrows. Controlled twists of hair frame her face, and a golden tiara guides her long, straight blonde hair down her back. For accessories, Barbie wears a matching gold choker, twinkling gold earrings, a gold ring, and gold pumps. She brings to the new millennium a gift for you as well: a holiday ornament emblazoned with "2000" and decked with glitter and those silver snowflakes. Hang it wherever you'd like a festive reminder of this special year. As a collectible, the doll thoughtfully comes with a matching gold stand, as well as a two-year guaranteed warranty. --Diane Beall

I have a 12 year old daughter who enjoys collecting dolls with me. Each doll we collect has a special meaning for her. This doll is very pretty and will help her remember the year she turned twelve and the significance the American families place on the past and on the future in celebrating the millenium. The doll supposedly is in limited production so its a good idea to purchase it early before it is gone from the stores. The cost remains reasonable for a collectible.
I also will purchase the matching Hallmark ornament. I have been collecting these ornaments since they were released. Sometimes the ornaments are more stunning than the dolls they are based on. This may be the case this year.
Mattel should have issued a more spectacular doll for the year 2000, like those of the Holiday Barbie series. I think the designers missed a great marketing opportunity. While the doll is pretty,-the quality is mediocre in comparison to previous releases.

What a beauty she is. If you own Millenium Princess Barbie this doll is a must have. They just belong together. She is gorgeous. Her dress is a vibrant color of gold. All of the collectible 2000 dolls are worth purchasing. This is an investment that is well worth it. Thank you Amazon... you had the best price on this true gem!

This may not become one of the highest priced collectables of all time but it will bring back a memory of the turning of the calander from the 20th to the 21st century. For that reson alone I purchased it. I think you should get two one for your young daughter to play with (the clothes will no doubt get mixed up and the hair will no doubt get quite messy) and one to keep in the box for her collection. By the way there IS an African American version of this doll and the earlier complaint is obviously from someone who has some other issues to deal with. I counted a huge percentage of minority represented dolls from the Barbie line of dolls. I do wish that Mattel would make a few Barbies that had a normal body image instead of the waif look they all have. My sometimes comment to my daughter about how beatiful her Barbie looks is that she would look a little better if she wasn't so skinny.

When I saw this Barbie offered at an outlet price and free shipping, I thought that it was a good buy. When this doll arrived, I knew that it was an UNBELIEVABLE buy! She is just gorgeous, with a gown that is probably worth far more than this doll costs. In a wonderful presentation box, this Barbie would make an impressive gift for a special little (or big) girl. I'M a big girl and I love this Barbie. She is the star of my collection.

I have Bought the Holiday Barbie Doll for my sister for the past ten years, and she looks forward to them each year. It seems that they get harder to find each year, So to avoid disappointed kids get them early. The value of the Doll does compare to the joy and memories they'll have.

My daughter enjoys collecting Barbies of all types. They are all still in their original boxes with the price tags on them. She really looks forward to the special editions, like the Celebration 2000. However her disappointment this year-was not being able to find a African American Celebration 2000 Barbie, to complete her set. She loves making sets of the special ones. I think the Celebration 2000 Barbie is pretty-but I have to say, I was amazed to find ones that showed a very slight difference-from the same company. You have to look very close to see these differences-we found some that had just a hint of different eye color or a tiny difference in the box color. But all-in-all we agree that the dolls are pretty. I hope that the quality of these dolls stays the same and the company knows how much these dolls are cherished.

Until today I never was positive wheather or not I owned a real collectable barbie. But when I started looking around I found this Celebration Barbie. I am so excited for I have always thought it looked like a vauluable doll. But now it is for real. I love this doll becuae it is so pretty and fun to pley with. I would suggest this doll to any one who likes beautiful dolls. For I have a pretty good feeling this doll in a couple of years is going to be worth lots of money. This doll is so much fun to own.
