Before Today is suprisingly fresh compared to other emerging artists in the punk/hardcore genre. They combine poetic and intelligent lyrics with a driving backbeat and searing guitars to form an aggressive yet melodic sound.

The fact that they have cited all types of music as their influences bleeds through in their music, showing more depth and range outside the punk genre.

If they weren't different from other bands enough by their music, the lyrics really push them ahead. The lyrics are extremely intellectual and a relief from the direction music is going these days.

Before Today is truly a band to watch.

my fav band. awesome drums. and catchy guitars. the vocals.... amzing. the post hardcore screaming is even better. some of the best i've evr heard

Mainly of them all: Chiodos. Which is signed to the same damn label! jesus what ever happened to variety.

all in all its not that bad. good breakdowns and enough "variety" to not sound repetitious. but for god sakes they sound exactly like chiodos. while taking no risks at all almost to gain every fan possible in the scene.

So if you're a scene whore then you are sure to like this and every other band in the scene. if you arent and like select bands or "whine-core" then maybe you still might like it. and if thats the case do yourself a favor and get chiodos instead. they do it better.

Before Today is one of the few bands that can combine different types of music. Being that I'm from San Diego, I decided to check these guys out. My favorite tracks are The Process of
Losing and Gaining, Failure is Relative, and Staring at Backgrounds.If you're into Boys Night Out, Dead Poetic, Fear Before the March of Flames, or Rufio, you should check these guys out.

i just picked up this album today after my mate was telling me about a song he heard on JJJ. i cant thank him enough for his recommendation. this CD absolutely enthrawled from the very first listen. melodic harcore akin to ALEXISONFIRE but with much better vocals and far less screaming. very impressive guitar hooks. i beat the crap out of my steering wheel while listening to it on the way home from the shop. brilliant.
every song is bloody awesome but the highlight is definately "pierce the veil".
do yourself a favour and pick this CD up now!

Cool local band out of san diego saw them at soma very cool good cd.

if u loved the used's first cd i recommend this cd and loved the 2nd as well or vice versa buy this CD. if u like #1 and hated #2 its up to you. The screams are good and the guitar breakdowns are really obvious. these guys are awesome in my book although i didnt particularly like In Love & Death
