5.0 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST COMPILATIONS EVER!, May 24, 2010

This review is from: Celebration (Audio CD)
This cd is definitely one of the best compilations ever combining classics from the 70s to the 80s as they move seemlessly from one song to the next.

From the 70s, you get classics like "Last Dance" - an Oscar and Grammy-winning dance anthem from the Queen of Disco Donna Summer, "Shadow Dancing" a no. 1 pop smash by the late Andy Gibb, disco classics like "Shake Your Groove Thing" by Peaches and Herb, "Shake Your Booty" by KC and the Sunshine Band, "In the Navy" by Village People, "Get Up and Boogie" by Silver Convention, "More More More" by Andrea True Connection. Of course, not to be missed is Cher's own take on disco "Take Me Home."

From the 80s, classics like "Maniac" by Michael Sembello from the soundtrack of "Flashdance" start out the set. Other noteworthy tracks would be "Celebration" by Kool and the Gang which the compilation was named after, "I'm So Excited" by Pointer Sisters, "Call Me" by Blondie from "American Gigolo," "Fame" by Irene Cara from the movie of the same title, "Upside Down" by Diana Ross which was a no. 1 smash in 1980, "Funkytown," by Lipps Inc. and the anthemic "Physical" by Olivia Newton-John which was recently voted as the sexiest song of all time being the most successful song about sex (a whopping 10 weeks at No. 1 in the Billboard Hot 100 in the 80s when longevity at the top spot was quite rare in those days). This song was recently featured in an episode of the hit series "Glee" where Olivia sang it with Jane Lynch as Sue Sylvester.

Listening to these wonderful songs make you feel happy, high-spitited, ecstatic. Truly a wonderful compilation of pop classics, truly a celebration of music!
