Amazing Old School,

Absolutely amazing tracks. An old school battle with the future and both sides remarkably win. I think that these mixes bring you back to the real reason that we all love Madonna and generate a curiosity of what is yet to come. She is an icon, a legend, and a great American success story but most of all, she is Madonna. It has always been about the dance with her. Even her ballads compel you to move forward. For over 25 years, Madonna has refused to remain idle and I am grateful for that truth.
This EP has got me jumping up and down with anticipation for Celebration: The Ultimate Collection. A refreshing change of pace for music and Madonna as she returns to her roots, ready to start all over again. As well, Celebration is an interesting reworking of classic Madonna lyrics into a brand new anthem. I hear a resounding reverb of Express Yourself, Holiday, Causing a Commotion,Jump, and Into the Groove. Perhaps there is a little Hung Up in there as well. Celebration does more than merely repeat and rehash the onslaught of Madonna hits, however. Celebration truly delivers "an invitation to the dance" and I cannot, rather will not refuse her invitation. I believe that this song is a fitting end cap to her time at Warner by combining classic themes with, once again, an intense reinvention. The seemingly simplistic lyrics serve to intensify the core theme here. Celebrate. Celebrate. Celebrate. I for one am duly satisfied with this anthem and the subsequent mixes. |
