Ground-breaking Book on Becoming a Celebrity as a Business Credential,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Celebritize Yourself: The Three Step Method to Increase Your Visibility and Explode Your Business (Paperback)
"Celebritize Yourself" by Marsha Friedman is a unique business marketing book that provides a simple strategy and plan on how entrepreneurs can become celebrities in their field to promote their business or cause. By becoming a known and recognized expert in your field, you become a celebrity in that industry.
What is refreshing about this book is that Friedman teaches readers that being a celebrity goes beyond the Hollywood stereotype. Being a celebrity is not simply being superficially famous. It is about responsibly using that celebrity role to further the business and causes you believe in. It is about attaining credibility. One of her recommendations to attain credibility quickly is to become an author of a book. It is hard to disagree with her reasoning. What separates this book from every other book I have read is that Friedman encourages readers to introspect into the reasons why they would want to become a celebrity, their expectations, and how they intend to use this role. Through this process, there is a realistic setting of expectations and a grounding process. Friedman excellently makes the case of why entrepreneurs should aspire to be celebrities so that a greater mission and purpose can be better served, not simply for the fame itself. In her philosophy, becoming a responsible celebrity in your field is a respectable endeavor to achieve. Overall, I found "Celebritize Yourself" an easy and pleasant read. It felt personal to allow my mind and feelings wander and explore the different possibilities. The book has strengthened my resolve to use the celebrity role as an additional professional credential and business marketing tool. If you are an entrepreneur or marketer, do yourself a favor and read this ground-breaking book.

Good and sound advice on how to leverage the web to your personal and professional advantage,
By Charles Ashbacher (Marion, Iowa United States) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER)
This review is from: Celebritize Yourself: The Three Step Method to Increase Your Visibility and Explode Your Business (Paperback)
One of the consequences of the growth of the World Wide Web is that anyone can be published. It costs very little to have a personal blog and there are many sites that actively solicit contributions in a specific area. However, if it is not done right; one can spend a great deal of time and finger movements on a keyboard in attempting to make a name for themselves.
Friedman is the founder of a PR firm that specializes in turning the unknown into a known in the proper and necessary circles. Her advice in this book is fundamental and relatively inexpensive; most can be done with a computer and internet connection. Much of that advice is targeted at people that would like to publish a book and have it be known to the widest possible audience. As a heavy contributor of online material, I was aware of most of the techniques advocated by Friedman and found her advice to be accurate. Furthermore, there is very little in the way of outlandish hype; she is all business with little fluff. The only point of contention in that area is the suggestion in the title that all people can become a celebrity. It is more accurate to say, "become a celebrity within the audience of effectiveness for you." If you have an idea for a book, want to make your expertise available to others or just have a profound thought or two that you would like to share, Friedman will show you how to do it.

A Professional Motivates Potential Celebrities,

This review is from: Celebritize Yourself: The Three Step Method to Increase Your Visibility and Explode Your Business (Paperback)
By the time I finished "Celebritize Yourself The Three Step Method to Increase You Visibility and Explode Your Business", I had already recommended that 6 other people purchase it. One was a noted author who already published a book and was in the process of finishing a second book. Marsha's book is very informative and motivating for a new author and anyone who wants to be an author.
Marsha provides clear direction and sets expectations that may be followed by someone who is determined to be successful. This is not a novel to be read once. This is a reference book to be reviewed regularly to ensure you are on track.

Building your brand and reputation to open doors and opportunities...,

This review is from: Celebritize Yourself: The Three Step Method to Increase Your Visibility and Explode Your Business (Paperback)
I realize that some people will react negatively to the thought of becoming a "celebrity", as that often has a connotation of hype and falseness. But in Marsha Friedman's book Celebritize Yourself: The Three Step Method to Increase Your Visibility and Explode Your Business, she makes the argument that becoming a celebrity is simply the process of becoming the "name" in your field, the person that everyone thinks of and refers to when they talk about your area of interest. Reaching this level of visibility and reputation opens doors and gives you opportunities that you wouldn't otherwise get. Her method made a lot of sense to me, and gave me a lot of things to think about going forward.

Friedman shows that many people are quite competent at what they do, and they may even be the go-to person when others have questions. But that often doesn't extend beyond the company they work for or the business they run. As a whole, no one else knows about them. Why settle for that, when you can spread your message and influence to a wider audience if you have a passion for something? Friedman guides you through the process of thinking through what really motivates you, what makes you get excited when you wake up each morning. She also helps you figure out *why* you want to go the next step and expand your audience and influence. Once you have those reasons in place, you can start to work on her three steps. Those steps are write, speak, and sell. Key to her process is writing a book on your topic. Having a book with your name on it instantly sets you apart from the crowd. If you can't write well, then hire or work with someone who can put your knowledge and passion into words. Next, you need to speak publically. This can be in seminars, interviews, TV appearances, or any other media outlet that will get your name and face out there. I know this is a major fear of many people (public speaking), but it's a critical skill to possess. Take classes in public speaking, join Toastmasters, practice in front of small groups, whatever. The fear may not ever go away, but it can be channelled to motivate you to do better. Finally, you need to sell. This can be your product, your knowledge, your time... whatever it is that adds to your income. Becoming an expert is no good if it doesn't lead to monetary opportunities. But getting the reputation gives you a much better chance of closing the sale. Becoming a celebrity in your field isn't easy. In fact, it's hard work. But I found that Celebritize Yourself made the case as to why the hard work is necessary and worth it. I could see myself in her pages, and it wasn't hard to see myself following her recommendations. In fact, given some of the opportunities I've been working on of late, I find myself already moving down her recommended path. There's a lot here for me to think about... Harnessing the Power of Publicity,
By Larry Underwood "Author - St Louis Cardinals ... (Scottsdale, AZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Celebritize Yourself: The Three Step Method to Increase Your Visibility and Explode Your Business (Paperback)
There are countless number of people who are extremely talented in their chosen profession; they are experts in their field, performing their tasks with remarkable skill and grace. Some of these people have been able to parlay their unique skills into a rewarding career by harnessing the power of publicity to leverage their potential.
However, for the vast majority of people toiling in obscurity, their dreams are never quite fulfilled as they fail to stand out from the crowd. They really need to read this book. Marsha Friedman is an expert in publicity, and has compiled this pragmatic guide for anyone to "celebritize" themselves; to create their own marketable "personal brand" designed to take their business or career to the next level. The process for making all this good stuff happen is straightforward and not all that difficult to implement. All that's required is a desire to succeed and a passion for excellence. Once the individual has found their "niche" - the thing they do better than just about anybody else - they're ready to begin the three step method geared towards increasing visibility, gaining notoriety, and ultimately "exploding" their business. The first step Friedman advocates may sound a bit daunting to many - but let's face it - if you're going to be recognized as an "expert" in your profession, it would behoove you to write a book about it. As Friedman notes, there really is no better "business card" than your very own book; and becoming an "author" translates into instant star power credibility. It's almost a foolproof strategy for gaining acceptance from many possible naysayers; assuming your literary endeavor is well-written and compelling. But you're the expert; of course it's a great book! After you've successfully published your masterpiece, the next major task is to "speak"; unless you talk about your book in a fascinating and concise manner to all those who will listen, your efforts are for naught. Don't be bashful. Tell everybody you meet that you're an "author", and watch their eyes light up with admiration and awe in the presence of such greatness. Once the stage has been set, it's time to "sell" yourself to the world. This process should never end; you must be relentless in your shameless self-promotion. If you're charming enough, you should be able to attract the attention of a fairly wide segment of the media - from television to radio to print publications. Friedman didn't mention Facebook or Twitter, but those are excellent avenues for getting your message out to the masses. Doing book reviews on Amazon doesn't hurt, either! After you've done enough of them, people will start to recognize your name and most importantly, your book. The whole thing starts to build momentum, and the next thing you know, you're famous. Best of all, you'll be reaching a massive audience, and you'll be providing value to more people than you ever dreamed possible. If that sounds like something you'd like to accomplish, I'd strongly encourage you to grab a copy of this terrific book, and follow the instructions closely. You won't regret it.

Publicity expert shows you how to become the go-to person in your field.,

This review is from: Celebritize Yourself: The Three Step Method to Increase Your Visibility and Explode Your Business (Paperback)
Marsha Friedman knows how you can become famous and draw business from that fame. In her new book, Celebritize Yourself, she gives you a step-by-step guide to proving your superior knowledge in your field. This makes you stand out in a crowd and allows you to command more money.
For example, in my own business, it's the few copywriters who have published books and give seminars who can command the big fees and get the major clients. It's not necessarily because they're better than other copywriters. It's just that they're "perceived" as being better. And that's what this book is all about. She says, "Becoming a celebrity is no longer a mere luxury or 'pie-in-the-sky' pipe dream. In our media-saturated world of high hopes and high-tech, it is nothing less than a prerequisite for success. I have personally watched clients skyrocket from industry nobody to industry leader based only on their celebrity status." Indeed --- that's so true! I've seen that in my own field and that of others. In fact, I attempt to make my own clients understand the need to become a celebrity in their fields through their sales messages and how they market themselves. We learn in the book that being a celebrity in your field brings you: Access Identity Credibility Buy In But, how will you be known? The author tells us to know ourselves and she gives us a worksheet to help us crystallize our thinking and figure out what we should become famous for. It only needs to be one thing. One small niche is all it takes. The bottom line is this: There are a multitude of attorneys. Only a few have names you can quickly recall. You'd love to have them represent you if you ever got in a mess. That's true in every field. There are thousands of people in many fields. But only one or two or perhaps a half dozen at most who are celebrities. You want to be a celebrity so you can command the high fees and prices and be the go-to person in your field. If that's indeed what you want, I recommend this book to you. - Susanna K. Hutcheson

How to Become a Celebrity,
By W. Sheridan "Epistemological Entrepreneur" (Ottawa, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Celebritize Yourself: The Three Step Method to Increase Your Visibility and Explode Your Business (Paperback)
After many successful years of helping particular individuals to achieve celebrity status, Marsha Friedman has written a book to share her "lessons learned" with us. As she explains it, there are just three steps on her list of actions to becoming a celebrity:
(1) Write; (2) Speak; and (3) Sell. Is that all there is to it?! These steps are presumably for those who seek celebrity status but haven't achieved it yet; if you are already a celebrity you have your achievement. But how then did Elvis or the Beatles achieve celebrity status? Perhaps this is one way, rather than the way to achieve celebrity status. However, Marsha goes to considerable lengths to caution readers that "you gotta really wanna" become a celebrity for her method to work. Specifically she points to attributes of (i) motivation, (ii) passion, and (iii) commitment as being necessary for those aspiring to celebrity. We can summarize these attributes in one word - personality. So in fact, she could add personality to her list, because without it celebritizing is not possible. I also suspect there is one other factor in play, namely luck. For instance, there are widespread tales of how the wrong timing, or wording, or appearance, etc. have ruined an otherwise promising beginning in the celebritizing process. Louis Pasteur said that "chance favours the prepared mind," but sometimes the turn of events can leave you totally unprepared regardless of your efforts. Since I can write, speak and sell, have a pleasing personality, and am lucky by nature, I liked the book and found much in it that will be helpful in my celebritizing efforts. Those who are equally well endowed will find this book a real source of inspiration and guidance. But as Marsha says, celebrity status is not for everyone.

Being a marketing expert I found Marsha's book to be a great book that outlines specific steps anyone can take to celebritize themselves. With this book you will be able to create your own outline and "to do" list to achieve the success and credibility you want, one of the best books I have read on this topic.

Value of Celebrity,
By Mac Laird "Mac Laird" (Virginia, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Celebritize Yourself - 1st Edition: The Three Step Method to Increase Your Visibility and Explode Your Business (Paperback)
I have just finished a most satisfying and helpful read of Friedman's CELEBRITIZE YOURSELF. It is refreshingly direct in making the case for the value of celebrity, a word for which I have learned a new and better definition. I now see it as a means for providing something of value to my readers: entertainment and information. Entertainment because I am a novelist, information because my books are accurately taken from historical settings. The material is well organized in 174 pages of action packed how-to. Write, speak, and sell guided by CELEBRITIZE YOURSELF. Mac Laird, Historical Novelist |
