Why does everyone I know who's played this game does not like Carrot Top? There's absolutely nothing wrong with him. I was surprised who was on this game when I got it. If there's someone who gets annoying quickly like Ron Jeremy or Anna Nicole Smith or Cindy Margolis, I can easily kill them with ones like Jerry Springer or the Mummy! The show is great, so the opportunity to actually be in control of the celebrities sounds like a dream come true! Unfortunately, it doesn't deliver much. The characters look good, and it's awesome having running commentary from Johnny Gomez and Nick Diamond throughout the match, but you're extremely limited almost from the beginning, and the instructions on how to operate your character are sketchy at best. You'll find yourself mostly just button-mashing in a desperate attempt to make something work. In the game's defense, the "kill moves" are funny and keep in the spirit of the show very well. The game can be extremely gruesome at times (ripping a character's arms, legs, and head off are not off limits) and the language used is sometimes severe (including profanity like they use on the show). Also, the character selection is limited to begin with, and the create-a-celebrity mode doesn't really deliver you that much to work with (you can't really create anyone recognizable). All in all, a great distraction rental for an afternoon or two, but not worth owning unless you're a huge fan of the show.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very CHEAP unlockables...., October 31, 2003
This review is from: Celebrity Death Match (Video Game)
I loved the show,so I got the game.It is funny for awhile, but the same moves and one-liners quickly wear on your nerves. The game ends very quick, but what's really bad about this game is the so called unlockable "bonus" characters to play as!I was under the impression that you would unlock more celebs to play as;that is NOT the case at all.You just unlock stupid fantasy characters like frankenstien, werewolf, mummy, alien etc.

Also the material they used to poke fun at the celebrities seems dated,as if this game was meant to be released a couple years back.Gotham Games could've also added better celebrities to play as and mutilate.I think it would've been funny to see someone like Brittney Spears or Eminem getting impaled or beheaded. But instead they give us Busta Rhymes and Carrot Top!?

Take this one for a rental if you are really bored, but PLEASE do not buy this one!

I have alot of the same complaints as others(lack of instruction to be my chief concern but overcome). Yet this game is by far one of the funniest games I have played in quite sometime. Plus it is hard to be mad at the game even when you lose. I mean how mad can you be after ripping off Justin Timberlake's legs and arms! Anyone who wants to laugh until they pee or anyone who loves to see animated violence will love this game, but if you focus to much on trying to be technical and fight with purpose and stratagy then forget it. You just need to get lost in the hilarity of the concept behind this game and just enjoy it. Not the best game ever but for my money one of the best wrestling formated games you can buy.

This game is a lot of fun. It does date itself a little bit because of the charaters that are in it. But, everyone can enjoy it. Sometimes, its probably funnier for Adults though!

3.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious Game but not good value for the money., January 5, 2004

For those of you who don't know... you and another player (or CPU) can wrestle celebritys against each other. Each of the celebritys has different moves that fit with that celebrity's character (ex. Carrot Top "dials down the center" when he punches.) The goal is to kill your celebrity opponent.

The moves on this game are SOOOOO funny, but do sort of get old quick. The unlockables are too easy and boring (I was hoping for Howard Stern). Overall the game is is not the best value since you could really beat it in one sitting.

**It is good to whip out this game for company who havent seen it though**

It's not the greatest fighting game ever, but quite a lot of fun. i loved the show and the game is pretty damn good. Renting first is a good idea. Not a lot of replay value unfortunately

This would have to rate as one of the worst games I've ever purchased. I wish I had read the reviews before I purchased it.

A bit like the TV series which the game is based on, the concept is initially funny but wears off very quickly. I think that I played for somewhere between 30 minutes and an hour, that's it. The game-play is very basic and each player has limited moves. Very disappointing.

Parents be warned that there is some Mature content in this game. Each character has a couple of special moves and hopefully you can work out for yourself the special moves of characters like or Anna Nicole Smith and Ron Jeremy (porn star).

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellence in trash gaming!, March 19, 2004

I'll be honest. As a fight game, this isn't very good. The moves take a bit of getting used to, and the fatality moves are often difficult to pull off until you get used to the game. (The fight is not over until you perform a fatality. Otherwise, you can beat the tar out of the other player, and they can turn around and beat you if you can't get off the fatality. This has happened to me several times. Yes, it's frustrating.)

However, the commentary makes this game really entertaining. The game has gotten pretty cheap. I paid the $20 price, and I think that was a good price. I play this game mainly to laugh at the dialogue. I've actually had my brother listen to parts of this game over the phone! For the price, I'm happy with it. I think it's fun and entertaining. I agree with the critics who say the material is a bit dated, but it#s still funny. It's a great game to get for parties or times you want entertainment that doesn't make you think very hard.
