4.0 out of 5 stars Good Collector's Item
I bought this because I'm a huge fan of Angelina Jolie, and even though it's a little basic, I enjoyed it and it makes a great addition to any collection or a great coffee table book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
It has nothing but pre-published photos we have all seen before in magazines. The tats aren't even shown. They talk about how Angelina has a lot of them but they don't even list them all. Not made for the true tattoo enthusist. A coffee table book at best. It describes their crazy childhoods more than the tats.

1.0 out of 5 stars totally dissapointed, September 13, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Celebrity Skin: Tattoos, Brands, and Body Adornments of the Stars (Paperback)
1st you can't see any of the tattoos, the photos are blurry and the descriptions of the tattoos are either incomplete, wrong or just not there. It was more like a copy of The National Inquirer on what the stars like to eat for breakfast. It had nothing to do with tattoos or what they mean. I was really dissapointed and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

2.0 out of 5 stars Celebrity Skin needs more to really shine, August 19, 2002
This review is from: Celebrity Skin: Tattoos, Brands, and Body Adornments of the Stars (Paperback)
Celebrity Skin by Jim Gerard gives the reader just what it says: skin. The collection, while titled with a body art slant, looks more like a group of celebrity photos where everyone just happens to have some body art, rather than focusing directly on it. Many of the tattoos could have been showcased more if the portraits had been posed for that purpose instead of being collected from previous publications. Written material about the celebs and their tats is of mixed length and quality. Overall, this is more like a book of celebrity tattoos for the dentist's office, and not a great addition to the tattoo library that it could have been.

1.0 out of 5 stars Better Off Avoiding, February 5, 2010
This review is from: Celebrity Skin: Tattoos, Brands, and Body Adornments of the Stars (Paperback)
If you're looking for pictures of famous people and their tattoos/body adornments, avoid this book! Why you may ask? Well here's my answer:

Although the book is well organized in sections of the famous (sometimes the author makes them sound more infamous) from musicians to models, several of the pictures and people mentioned don't even have pictures of their tattoos! Some are even described lousy - you can clearly see a specific tat on the picture, yet there is no mention in the description. This book also has more scoop and snarky comments about the goings on of said celebrity, rather than focusing on what this book is titled and supposed to be about. All in all this book has more celebrity poop, and not much about celebrity body adornment and should be avoided if you're specifically looking for what the title is stating

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice Photos, November 4, 2005

"Celebrity Skin" is basically a coffee table book full of photos of stars and their tattoos. It covers not just actors, but also sports icons, models and musicians. My two favorites being Bjork and Johnny Depp.

The photos are really nice and ones that I haven't seen elsewhere. The info was interesting, but I guess I was hoping for more insight on to what the tattoos symbolilze to the people who got them.

While I didn't dislike this book as much as some of the other reviewers, I should say that this was given to me as a gift and it's probably not a book I'd have purchased (definitely one to look at in the bookstore). I'm giving it four stars because it was fun to look through and the photos really are nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Starstruck, September 20, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Celebrity Skin: Tattoos, Brands, and Body Adornments of the Stars (Paperback)
I have read the other reviews online, which is what prompted me to write. Although I agree with some of their points, this title is a beautiful addition for anyone interested in the stars. Never before has there been a collection of adornments of the stars, and I found the text rather intriguing. I feel this book is accessible to everyone, not just tatoo freaks, and the design and layout are great.
