Underground Gem..., July 31, 2007
This review is from: Celestial Clockwork (Audio CD)
Boy, is this album a gem. I can listen to this album all day and I have, actually. First off, the flow is one of the best today. So smooth. The production is another highlight, since its nice but sticks to the underground figure. The samples(movie samples, it seems) are very nicely picked. But from all this, the lyrics and knowledge are by far the best part. Amazing!!!!! Closing comments: I suggest you listen to this with headphones to catch all the lyrics he drops or try to concrete. This is flawness and I mean it. I didn't find myself pressing the skip button, at all. Don't expect poppy bull**** from this album, but expect knowledge and a true underground classic.

Amazing album, January 14, 2008

Illogic is one of the best lyricists around and one of the most slept on and underrated. Lyrcially this is easily 5 stars. Just listen to '1,000 Whispers' if you need proof. Production wise, I wish it could have been a little better but it does fit his style for the most part. Very good concepts. A must have IMO.

excellent album, December 23, 2008
This review is from: Celestial Clockwork (Audio CD)
I first heard Illogic as a guest spot on Aesop Rock's first LP, and I really dug his style, but never thought much more about it. I recently decided to check out some of his work, and came across this little gem. All I can say is that if you like hip-hop (as opposed to gangster rap), you'll like this album. During the first listen, I wasn't too impressed because he often employs spacey, sparse beats that were a little hard to digest. After a few more listens though, they actually grew on me and they really contribute to the overall sound of the album. Needless to say, the lyrics are nothing short of ill, and his delivery is spot on. The content of the songs vary widely, from boastin' to storytelling, and even a song about his struggles with trying to lead a life God would want him to. Something for everyone. So if you're a fan of hip-h0p you can actually listen to like Qwel or Can Ox, do yourself a favor and pick up this disc ASAP.
