5.0 out of 5 stars Very, Very, Unique
I first heard a cut from this album in 1989. I bought the cassette a few months later and then lost it.It took me 11 years to get another! Listening to this album is a great way to relax. Just put your feet up, and place yourself in the stories that are being told. Guaranteed to make you think, whether it's happy or sad!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Campfire stories
I thought this was going to be more new age along the lines of ENIGMA, Steven Halpern, or Merlin's Magic. Imagine my disappointment when I learned "Celestial Navigations" were cowboy/trucker stories. Monotone speech with barely discernable backround music.

The Celestial Navigations team has combined synthesized music and storytelling into a combination that leave me begging for more. The stories are deep and the music is powerful. If you can imagine stories like those on the Twilight Zone with modern day synthesizers playing in the background, then you begin to understand what Celestial Navigations is all about. These stories paint a very vivid picture and leave you thinking every time... Everyone should have a copy of this...

I originally only had Celestial Navigations "Ice" - so was surprised how much I really liked this earlier work. Received in a timely fashion.

Celestial Navigations Chapter II would be a winner and worth the cost of this CD
if it had only the song, THE TRAIN. --Dr. Gene Minix

A friend gave me a tape of this MANY years ago. When I saw it on Amazon I bought it right away...since I don't use a tape player anymore. My favorite of all time is "The Dwarf"...it is thrilling.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shades of Rod Mckuen, December 9, 2010

Many years ago there was a gentleman named Rod Mckuen who used to ramble poetically to music, I have several of his albums. It was really nice relaxing stuff to listen too. Well if you are a Mckuen fan Celestial Navigations is for you. Actor Geoffrey Lewis and composer Geoff Levin present an amazingly eclectic series of musings which are wonderful to hear. I first happened upon these when listening to Book Radio on XM, they used it as "filler" between productions and I was really impressed so much so I've bought several of the CD's including this one. When riding in the truck on a trip I pass the time listening to them and the time is passed in great enjoyment. I highly recommend that you take a listen and see what I'm talking about.

This review is for the song, 'The Train' which tells a story of a very simple, yet touching, act of kindness. It's a soft, gentle Christmas song that is very relaxing. It always puts a smile on my face when I hear it and I'm very glad I bought it.
