Please bring back the old recipe,

This was my favorite tea before they changed the recipe and the box. The new recipe has a yellow label stating "Improved Flavor! More Antioxidants!". Also, the new recipe turns yellow when added to water. YELLOW? WHAT ARE THEY THINKING???The taste of the tea is OK for a green tea but it doesn't have any recognizable blueberry flavor. I purchased 30 boxes of this stuff when it went on sale at Pathmark ($1.66 a box) when I discovered the tea was yellow and awful (for a blueberry tea that is). I contacted Celestial Seasonings and they remedied my situation by offering me 5 coupons for 5 free boxes of any flavor of their tea. Rather than return my tea, I used the coupons to buy the "True Blueberry" herbal tea which is quite excellent but no has caffeine (which I desperately need). I now mix one True Blueberry bag with one New Recipe bag to create a tea similar to the older more wonderful Blueberry Breeze. I'm also angry at the box redesign. The older boxes are artistic with literary quotes and a caffeine meter. The new boxes look cold and "corporate". My other favorite tea "Honey Lemon Ginseng Green Tea" was also reformulated but it tastes the same as the original so no complaints.

They ruined a great product,

I've been drinking celestial seasonings blueberry green for years, but never again. They ruined it by changing the recipe. Rather than the great berry taste, it now tastes like every other green tea at a bad chinese restaurant.More than that, Amazon is not accurately representing this item. I bought a number of boxes thinking that I was getting the old version (they list the old ingredients - I was trying to stock up - but sent the new, terrible version), now I'm stuck. I'm in the market for a new brand. This one is ruined. Trader Joe's Pomegranate White is very good. That's what I'm doing from now on...

Great tea that is a mix of green tea and blueberry. No bitter green tea aftertaste.

This is my favorite tea, and my local stores have stopped carrying it. I was extremely happy to find it on Amazon at a low price and with free shipping. I use a lot of it, so I hope you are able to keep it in stock. Thanks for solving a perplexing problem. Also the delivery was much quicker than I expected. Thanks again.

Blueberry Jam scented Tea!,
By
This review is from: Celestial Seasonings Green Tea, Blueberry Breeze, 20-Count Tea Bags (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
The best part about this tea is inhaling the fragrance of the brewing tea--it smells like warm blueberry jam! Awesome! The tea itself suffers from a little too much enthusiastic application of hibiscus and rose hips--this is the first flavor that hits the tongue--a sour taste--followed by afternotes of blueberry flavor. Keep inhaling to keep the blueberry flavor going!Green tea is touted for its health benefits--not just antioxidants but also because it is supposed to help you lose weight! Celestial Seasonings gets extra points for their packaging: they utilize 100% natural recycled paperboard in their boxes and they don't package each tea bag individually. Instead they use a system of a waxed paper bag inside the box that stays shut when you fold it. It keeps the bags fresh and utilizes less packaging than individually wrapping each bag. They put a caffeine meter on the box to compare this tea with cola and coffee beverages-this tea has 20 mg of caffeine compared to 90 in a cup of drip coffee. The level of antioxidants and information about them would be a good addition. The art they use on each box is beautiful as are the quotes and information they put on every surface. Here is a quote from the box: "Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony." Mahatma Ghandi.

I love blueberries but finding blueberry flavored things I like can be difficult. This tea is refreshing and lightly blueberry flavored...without any of the artificial blueberry taste I find in most blueberry-flavored products! I drink a cup every morning with breakfast and often indulge in another cup in the afternoon! So yummy!

Original 1/16/09 post, Delish! was the title: This is a fruity flavor, almost like a fruit punch. There is somewhere in there a slight tart taste, but it works well. You will also find blueberry herbal teas. Each herbal tea offers its own health benefit. However the polyphenols found in green teas, and generally not in herbal teas, are backed by study after study suggesting their use prevents chronic diseases, including heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. I've hit the jackpot: a flavor I love AND a superfood in one! Update 4/14/09: read ingredients. I just bought a box of Blueberry Breeze at the supermarket. It's marked as "Improved Taste". Don't buy this improved taste one. Make sure you get the one with the Hibiscus, and Blackberry and Blueberry leaves. Makes all the difference. The box I bought at the supermarket is nowhere near the flavor of the original. Even the color is different. Instead of ruby red, it's yellow. I don't know why they would change the ingredients. I don't like the improved one at all. Just wanted to warn you. I gladly recommend the original, but not the improved. Yet another update 8/25/09: The ingredients that gave this tea such a great flavor are now in True Blueberry, a Celestial Seasonings herbal tea, and not in this one. I wish they hadn't changed this great green tea. If you want the flavor you can go herbal, but you won't get the green tea benefits.

This tea is not bad...,
This review is from: Celestial Seasonings Green Tea, Blueberry Breeze, 20-Count Tea Bags (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
I just started drinking Celestial Seasonings last month so I have never tried the previous recipe of Blueberry Breeze. But I will agree with some other reviewers that the blueberry taste could of been better. The tea smells kinda like blueberries but when I drink it I only get blueberry aftertaste... I noticed (maybe it's only with me) that if I brew the tea no more then 2 minutes and add a teaspoon of sugar the blueberry taste becomes stronger and I don't only taste the blueberry with the aftertaste now.. I also think it's pretty odd that 1. The tea is yellow instead of a blue or purple like color and 2. There is white tea added in the green tea... why have two different teas in one?? I think that's why the blueberry taste is not that strong.. But overall this tea is not bad if you add sugar in it. I do recommend it if your looking for a somewhat sweet fruity tea with caffeine to start the day off. I will finish the box I have but I may not buy this again... no more then 3 stars for this flavor.. sorry :(

I know that green tea is very good for you so I am always looking for a tasting green tea. I bought this from my local grocer many years ago. I agree that the recipe has changed over the years and the tea does not turn bluish anymore. I agree with the other reviews but I still love the tea so I'm still going with 5 stars. For those of you that have never tried this tea before are not able to compare the previous recipe so I'll just comment on how it is now. The Blueberry flavor is subtle but in my opinion it is perfect. Bottom line: --If you hate the taste of green tea this may not be for you. |
