About the Brand

In 1969, 19-year-old Mo Siegel and his friend Wyck Hay found a bountiful harvest of wild herbs growing around Boulder, Colorado. With friends and wives helping, they picked the herbs and produced 500 pounds of their first blend, called MO's 36 Herb Tea. It was packaged in hand-sewn muslin bags and sold to a local health food store. Hay's brother, John, joined the partnership in 1971. The entrepreneurs set up shop in an old barn outside of Boulder, and they expanded their market to stores throughout Colorado, New Mexico, and the East Coast. The partners also began buying herbs rather than picking everything themselves, and the dream of a national herb tea company slowly began to materialize. This dream was reinforced when Red Zinger Herb Tea was introduced in January 1972 and was an immediate sensation. It remains one of the best-selling Celestial teas.

The company continued to grow and revolutionize the tea industry. Herb teas had previously been perceived as only of medicinal significance, but Celestial Seasonings introduced herb teas as flavorful, healthy beverages, virtually creating the modern tea industry. Celestial Seasonings solidified its sources for obtaining ingredients, such as hibiscus flowers and chamomile, by working closely with herb farmers from the Pacific Northwest to the exotic Far East. This forward thinking attracted the attention of food industry giant Kraft, Inc., which bought Celestial Seasonings in 1984. Kraft's guidance brought Celestial Seasonings to the attention of new consumers, further strengthening its lead in the herb tea industry while also introducing a gourmet line of traditional, or black, teas. In September 1988, Kraft sold Celestial Seasonings back to its management, returning the tea company to independent ownership. The company remains headquartered in Boulder, in the corporate facility on Sleepytime Drive.

The company, in 1991, experienced the exciting return of its original founder and leader, Mo Siegel, as chairman and chief executive officer. Since then, the company has expanded upon its herbal expertise bringing to market successful lines of Green, Wellness, Organic, and Chai teas. In 2000, Celestial joined forces with the Hain Food Group, maker of many top-selling natural foods brands. Today, serving more than 1.2 billion cups of tea per year, Celestial Seasonings is the largest herb tea manufacturer in North America and is expanding internationally at a rapid rate. Assured of Celestial Seasonings leadership position in the herb tea industry, Mo retired in September 2002 to fulfill another dream: to finish hiking the last set of 14,000-foot Colorado mountains he has yet to climb.

This tea provides a luscious and refreshing break from your daily grind and helps you relax as well. It's got a great cherry apple taste to it that is not overpowering and if you let it steep about three minutes you're bound to enjoy it as much as I do!

Each bag contains all-natural ingredients including hibiscus, cinnamon, chamomile, cranberries and apples. There's some vitamin C in it, too. There are no artificial ingredients! The stringless tea bags can easily be removed from your cup whenever you want just by using a spoon or anything similar to get them out of the cup. Stir the tea bag around and up and down a bit while it's in your cup before you drink it. It's also kosher if that matters to you.

The tea is also caffeine free, which is a plus for those of us who don't want caffeine in our diets. That is something I always prefer.

If you like a cherry apple, very slightly tart flavor to your tea, this is highly recommended! Enjoy!

This ruby shaded brew has an appealing cinnamon and apple aroma. The flavor was more like tart cherry than cranberry--maybe that is due to the combination of cranberry and apple. Quite tasty--don't brew too long or it can become sour!

Celestial Seasonings gets extra points for their packaging: they utilize 100% natural recycled paperboard in their boxes and they don't package each tea bag individually. Instead they use a system of a waxed paper bag inside the box that stays shut when you fold it. It keeps the bags fresh and utilizes less packaging than individually wrapping each bag. The art they use on each box is beautiful as are the quotes and information they put on every surface.

Quote from the box: "Genius is the power of of lighting one's own fire." John Foster

We discovered the Cranberry Apple Zinger when it came with a selection of other teas. We use it to add flavor to our iced tea. I get a gallon of warm water from the tap, put in 2 family sized decaf tea bags, plus 4 of the Cranberry Apple and maybe a raspberry or blackberry & earl grey. Stick it in the fridge and a few hours later -- great tea.

This is a nice, tart herb tea (not always readily available) that tastes great--especially around the fall and winter holidays. Its ingredients are pretty simple: cranberry and apple pieces, spiced with cinnamon and chicory, with a bit of hibiscus for coloring and blackberry leaves and camomile for added flavor. The tea does contain soy lecithin, so if that's a problem for you, you'll want to skip this one. With a bit of honey or Stevia to sweeten it, Cranberry Apple is a nice full-flavored tea to wake up your taste buds and compliment your turkey dinner at Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Strong, soothing flavor. I drink 3 mugs of tea every day and have tried numerous other, more exotic, more expensive alternatives but haven't found any tea I enjoy as much as this one. This is the first product I'm putting on the auto-renewal option. Twinings and Lipton both make green tea versions that I would prefer but they are more expensive here at Amazon and harder to find elsewhere.

I love this tea! I am not a tea drinker, but I sampled this in a sample package and loved it. I tried to find a box of only this Celestial Canberry Apple Zinger localally. But was not successful. So I ordered it from Amazon and I have enough to last for a long time.

As far as flavor goes, this is my favorite. Since I enjoy the healing properties of green tea, I mix the two together. I drink this all year round. I've stayed with Celestial Seasonings because I happen to like it the best.
