Nothing says, "Happy holidays," to me quite like homemade fruit cake or a cup of hot Sugar Plum Spice tea. I look forward to this Celestial Seasonings specialty every year, as it is normally available only from October to January. The roasted barley malt, chicory root and carob give it a rich, robust flavor--almost like a cup of mocha. Rose hips, natural plum flavor and chamomile flowers add a sweet, fruity taste akin to a fine plum pudding. Ginger root gives it that characteristic holiday zing. Try this full-flavored herbal infusion yourself, and your taste buds will dance with delight!

This tea is hard to find - it was a joy to find it on Amazon.

Large package -6 full size boxes arrive all for enjoyment!

Sugar plum is a delicious, sweet, warm, feel good tea. Reminding you of Christmas. It has that spice palate of warm hibiscus, barley, rosehips. I think what I like most of all is the sweet aromatic taste. One of those tastes that makes you feel taken care of - a special treat when you are little. Like when mom or dad would make you hot coco or something you like that was so sweet and rare and ONLY on those special occations.

I adore this tea and rather drink anyother tea.
I am so happy to have found it!

I was extremely skeptical when I ordered this tea. I did not expect to like it, but thought I would give it a try. I brew some tonight in a teapot, two bags for the whole pot. The aroma was, well, worrisome, but, when I sweetened it and added milk, it was DELICIOUS!!!!!!! I heartily recommend this tea to anyone who likes fruity teas. It does have spices, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves, I think, from the TASTE not the box label. I am very glad I gave it a try.
Just wish that more of the fruit flavors were offered one box at a time so that I could try them before I commit to a six pack. I will definitely buy this again.

I discovered this flavored tea during the Thanksgiving holidays, 2009 at my daughter's house. I am NOT a tea OR coffee drinker but she pressured me to try "this amazing flavored tea" and the rest, shall we say is history! Now I just can't start my day without it. There is no caffeine, however, and all natural ingredients but the flavor is perfect and it stands alone! I would recommend this to anyone, even those "non tea or coffee drinkers". It was introduced as a "Holiday Tea" so it is not supposed to be available throughout the year and it is now almost impossible to find EXCEPT through Amazon. Thanks Amazon and your sellers for making it available for me, all year long!

I love this tea! We buy it every year so we can drink it during the holiday season and the winter months. It has such a delightful, spicy sweet flavor (Bear in mind that I always add a dollop of honey or a single bag serving of Stevia to my cup.) It's a lovely tea that just tastes so Christmassy. I love to cozy up with a good book and a cup of this tea, but it's great for drinking anytime.

Can't buy this sweet sipping tea most places but enjoy it by the case when you get it on Amazon! Last year's case lasted 7 months, and this year we're looking forward to another half year or so. It is an excellent blend of holiday that carries us along into the rest of the year! Better than the Sugar Cookie blend they had last year, this one is truly the wife's favorite!

Celestial Seasonings - Sugar Plum Spice
Price: .$2 (@Whole Foods with coupons)

Caff-O-Meter: 0mg (Herbal tea)

Ingredients:
Hibiscus, roasted barley, roasted chicory, rosehips, chamomile, natural plum and cinnamon flavors with other natural flavors, ginger, roasted carob and cardamom.

-Smell (4.5) - The smell of this really does take me back, it reminds me of the cinnamon candies we would have at my grandmother's house when we'd go visit for Christmas. That being said cinnamon is the smell this is giving off more than anything. The scent is not overly powerful to where you'd think its fake though.

-Taste

+Unsweetened:
++Hot (2.5) - The taste is a little on the weak side. I'm not a regular consumer of plums so I can't say if that is what I taste but the flavor is certainly not off putting were it stronger this would be a 3 - 3.5. I do taste the hibiscus in there but that just may be a leftover of my Jamaica(great for lowering blood pressure) kick I was on before the autumn and fall teas came out.
++Iced (3) - The taste is still weak here but the flavor is a little more complex to me when chilled
*I prefer my teas Iced and 1 cup to .5 packet of sweetener. So unless it wows me, without sweetener will always be lower in points so to compensate I add .5 points to the unsweetened taste average.

-Sweetened ( For some reason most of the time until I add sweetener (1/2 pkg of truvia) I typically don't detect any of the flavors beyond just plain tea. It seems to always make flavors stick out.
++Hot (3)- The sweetener really makes the hibiscus come out, now the hibiscus is almost overpowering to me in this cup over everything else
++Iced (3) - Still tastes weak to me but making it cold toned down the hibiscus
2nd Steep (2.5) - strong cinnamon flavor, almost no color, don't think you're going to get much more than 2 steeps out of this. I would keep it in with a new bag though t get as much out of the bag as you can

Summary - So far it has been my experience the Celestial Seasonings holiday teas if anything shine in the scent department. The flavors do come out as weak but good. I would recommend doubling the strength of this but that is just me. So long as I can get the great deal I got on it I will keep it in my rotation until the holidays are over.

Celestial Seasonings' Sugar Plum Spice is a delightful holiday tea. It contains hibiscus, roasted barley malt, roasted chicory root, rosehips, chamomile flowers, natural plum flavor with other natural flavors, ginger root, roasted carob, and cardamom. It does not contain caffeine, so it's technically an herbal tea.

Celestial Seasonings has been around a long time, and makes quality teas. All of their teas are free of preservatives and artificial colorings and flavorings, all are certified Kosher and none use irradiated botanicals, which I appreciate. Although they use "natural flavors" in their teas, these natural flavors are derived primarily from fruits, spices and herbs, and never contain monosodium glutamate (MSG). They use environmentally conscious packaging and sustainable sourcing. To remove the caffeine from green and black teas, they use a process called "effervescent decaffeination" (using carbon dioxide). Celestial Seasonings justifiably takes pride in being a company that makes natural teas.

On the package, Celestial Seasonings writes, "Take a sip of Sugar Plum Spice and journey with us to the Land of the Sweets in Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker. Here you'll find gingerbread houses, trees laden with sugar plums and days filled with sunshine. This is the land of the Sugar Plum Fairy, who is beautiful, gentle and kind. We created this tea to pay tribute to her. Sugar Plum Spice is made with 100% natural herbs and the festive flavors of plum and spice, with just a hint of sweetness." This tea is slightly sweet and full bodied, tasting just as you would expect from the description. The cardamom and ginger give it a little zing. Each tea bag packs a lot of flavor and I only need to use one at a time.

I recommend it, even if it's not a holiday. It's perfect for a cold or wet winter day.

I'm on a tea kick. This one definitely has a spice taste to it. I don't think it's something I'd drink daily but thy call it a seasonal tea and that works. It is tasty, I added some local raw honey and that made it amazing.

This tastes more like an awesome spiced smooth winter cider than plum. I would highly recommend it to everyone. It is very soothing and herbal as well, so you can have it in the evening without it keeping you up at night.
