Anyone in Georgia in for the last 40 years knew who Celestine Sibley was. One of my most treasured possessions is a little paperback Sweet Apple 2-book set. Sibley Fleming's remembrance gives the story of her family, with the good and the bad and the tough and the sweet, with obvious love and respect for her grandmother. And the recipes added in aren't bad either--I have made Daggerini several times for the very reason Sibley notes. It's good!
One of my favorite biographies, I go back and read it fairly regularly, taking it from where it sits by the 2-book Sweet Apple set. Great service from the bookseller! |
