Hi Folks. Let me begin by saying this microscope has been an extremely fun toy to have around the house. I'm a law student (read: not a scientist haha) and this thing has been great fun - for the other novices like me, this microscope magnifies both 20x and 40x, which may not sound like much, but wait until you get a fingernail or a bug under it - EWWWWW. Anyway, this thing is absolutely solid - nice heavy-duty construction, with great optics. For those of you who don't know, this is a "dissecting" microscope which means you don't need slides or any of that stuff - you can just stick anything under it and easily get it in focus. VERY cool, and highly recommended to anyone who is interested in exploring the world of the small and icky. I can't recommend this scope highly enough, ESPECIALLY if you are a novice like me who just wants to look at anything and everything just for fun.

I am studying for my Pest control license for lawn and ornamentals here in Florida and needed a microscope to place leaves etc. under to look at what bug/insect may be bothering it. This is worth every penny, not only did i find spider mites on a fig leaf that was having trouble, but i also found a dead lace bug. I am very glad that i read the reviews on Amazon because that is what made up my mind to get this one.

I am delighted with this product. I am not a professional and wanted a microscope which would "wow" me. This is the perfect unit. The viewing experience is all I wanted. Small live "bugs" look spectacular on the wide stage. Focusing is intutive. The stereo vision is wonderful. Much better than I had expected, or hoped.

I ordered this scope for myself. My purpose is to help identify coleoptera (beetles) as I collect them this Spring. This scope is ideal for that purpose, with plenty of magnification and a bright lit field. Optics are very good and the operation simple but accurate. I am sure one can spend more, and I wish there were a way to attach a camera to the scope. That would get 5 stars from me.

I wanted a scope for my daughter who is in 3rd grade and for use in my 1st grade classroom (I'm a teacher), and the traditioanal scopes with their high magnification seemed too much. This scope is great because you can stick just about anything under it and get it in focus and in the field of view quickly.
I agree with previous reviews and would recommend this to anyone wanting to get started.

I phoned the company and found that this microscope only comes with a two year warranty. I found similar microscopes online for the same price that offer a lifetime warranty, and I ended up purchasing one from the Home Training Tools site.
