I just received my 44202 stereo microscope. It's just amazing. You can use it from the very first minute. If you want you can see one of the prepared slides right out the box, or any of the familiar objects at home, and you will discover a fascinating new world, hidden from your eyes.
My kids and I have used it to see a lot of bugs, spiders, flies, flowers, etc. The x20 factor is the best for 3-D viewing, while the x40 factor is best suited for flat, smaller objects like slides, stamps or similar.
The controls operate very well and allow an excellent level of command.
I have found that this microscope is solid, stable and easy to set-up.
I am very pleased to recommend this microscope.

I chose the 44202 model because of the rod holding the microscope body. With this set-up you can rotate the microscope to view objects that will not fit on the stage. I was a microbiologist for 30 years and for 22 of them I used a stereo microscope nearly every day. These were professional models and probably cost more then 5-6 times what the Celestron cost and I believe the image quality of the Celestron is as good as these expensive scopes. The images are in focus in the entire field, which is amazing for an inexpensive scope. The focus controls are smooth and easy to use and will, hopefully, last a long time. The built-in lights do their job illuminating the stage uniformly. Great scope.

For Christmas, I bought each pair of grandchildren a 44202 and a 44204. One of the 202's had an inoperative light switch. The replacement process was well handled although I had the hassle of returning (cost prepaid)the original to a UPS house. One of the 204's had a broken mirror which my daughter was going to handle directly through Celestron since they live on the other side of the country from me.

While I'm satisfied with the products, the customer deserves better.

I'm a Microbiologist as well as Biologist, and I`ve been working with this kind of equipment my whole professional life. This stereoscope is perfect, great quality and perfect optics!!! I trully recommend this item!! just try it...! great product at a very nice price!!! Congrats Celestron! Thanks.

The microscope is really good under 20X but the lighting isn't great when you have it on 40x. That's about my only gripe.

Worth the time and money saved by having one at home. The microscope did its job and more. The quality is exactly what I was looking for. Metal body, Adjustable focal height, Multiple Lower light filters. I'm very happy with the purchase.

I purchased this microscope for my girlfriend as an I'm proud of you/Birthday gift. She is a full time restaurant manager and full time biology major. With multiple projects due from dissection to identification she has been running to and from the school lab between classes and before and after work to meet her deadlines. This microscope has surpassed the quality of the one used at the and drawn a small study group that now meets at my house. The time it has saved and the money in gas for the 20min one way commute has made it a great tool to have at home.

The Celestron 44202 Advanced stereo microscope is an excellent dissecting scope. Important structures of plants and insects are easily seen. The built in lights for underneath or overhead viewing are excellent. I would recommend this scope.

I recently purchased the Celestron 44202 stereo microscope. The quality of this microscope far surpassed my expectations. The quality of the lenses and the low price are both very impressive. I do a lot of identification of insects based on minute details of their anatomy, and this scope proved worthy of great detail and resolution.

This stereo microscope, well built and easy to use and maintain, is a disappointment which , Celestron admits, cannot be solved and must be tolerated by the consumer.
The 4X objective produces a view which is hazy and foggy compared to the 2X objective. Celestron's tech support people concurred that the field of view with the 4X objective, while sharp, is less bright than the 2X, but is probably just an unrepairable characteristic of the 44202 model.

The Celestron 44202 Stero Microscope has opened a whole new world to a person with limited vision. He enjoys collecting coins and now suffers from Macular Degeneration and his vision problems make it difficult to see his error coins. He uses is to inspect the coins and can now see them well enough to enjoy his hobby once more.
