5.0 out of 5 stars Best spent money.
I recently purchased this spotting scope. The first I was skeptic when I did see that $45.00 low price. But tell you what, this spotting scope is amazing. I purchased for target shooting purpose. I did test it for 300 yard target, and I can see the 308 bullet holes on my paper nicely, at sunny daylight. I think it would work easily 500-600 yard range. Now not just that, I...

Now not just that, I did try to look the moon at night with it. You can see the bigger crates so clear. This scope well worth the money. It comes with a nice hard case too. The tripod is a junk to be honest. I'm using my camera tripod, and works well. I do recommend this spotting scope. You can't beat that price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the price!!!!, November 30, 2010

So, I read the review from Desertfox, and thought, why not buy this item. I was skeptical as well, but, when I received it, in a very short time frame I might add, I was very surprised!!! I tested it for 120s yards, and was able to see the screws on my neighbors mail box up the street. I also did the "moon at night" test as well, and I will concur on the statement that you are able to see the bigger craters very clearly!! This scope is definitely well worth the money. The hard case is a quality case, worth $20-$30 alone, plus the soft case is great to take with you. I think they may have updated the tripod, because I did not find any issues with it. I will probably use my camera tripod as well, when I am at the range. I can't wait to take it out to the range. I do recommend this spotting scope as well; especially for the price.

I had been looking for a decent quality spotting scope to be used mostly at the range and could not justify spending several hundred dollars on one. I also did not like the optical quality of most of the lower priced scopes as my Leupold rifle scope gave me a better picture than some at 100 yards. After reading the reviews on this scope, I decided to give it a try. I was plesently surprized when it arrived as it was packed in plastic wrap in a zippered case in its metal carrying case in a box in a box - plus all of the other plastic wrap. The scope feels like high quality with its rubberized non-slip finish. The optics are, of course, not up to Swarovski quality, but they did not cost multi thousands of dollars either. The view is perfectly clear and better than expected. The little table-top tripod is lightweight and adequate for the job. I have only tried this out at home and have not made it out to the range yet, but from what i can tell, it will serve the purpose well.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Scope Performs Much Better Than Expected, December 21, 2011

I just got this scope this afternoon and I've been playng around with it for the past hour or so looking at far off things in the neighborhood. Eventually I will use it at the shooting range. This scope is sharp and clear even out to the 60x zoom. A couple of weeks ago I bought a scope of another brand from Amazon that cost twice as much but I had to send it back because the subjects were indiscernable above 30x. Thank goodness for Amazon's return policy.

For the money this scope is a very good performer optically. And mechanically it is light and well made. The feel of the surface and the finish are all top notch. The controls, zoom and focus, feel smooth and solid. The rubber eyepiece is adaptable to those who wear glasses and to those who don't. At 20x to 30x it even works well hand held. Close focus seems to be about 30 feet. I've been using it on the tripod that came with it and on a photography tripod. Given a solid surface I have no complaints regarding the tripod that comes with it.

All in all this is a scope that performs far better than the price would suggest. I highly recommend this scope.

For the price there is not a better scope. It has a lifetime warranty and is very clear out to 300 yards. I would buy it again. The tripod is a little iffy but I mount it on a camera tripod when I'm shooting.

Call me Mr Bad Luck, this was the second spotting scope I'd ordered from Amazon, and the second with a terminal flaw. A metal shaving from the manufacturing process was sealed into the eyepiece, it rendered the scope useless at any magnification. Happily, the return was virtually effortless and the purchase price quickly refunded.

I bought this scope with the intention of using it as a spotting scope at the rifle range. This scope has the potential of being a very good scope for the price, but has one flaw that I cannot live with. For eyeglass wearers which I am, the instructions state: "fold down the rubber eyecup to observe the full field of view when wearing eyeglasses". The problem: the rubber eyecup will not stay folded. It keeps popping back to its extended position. I have to use both hands to keep the eyecup folded when viewing which of course introduces shake on the scope. I guess I could take my glasses off when viewing through the scope, but this is also a hassle. If you leave your glasses on with the rubber eyecup extended, the field-of-view becomes incredibly small and useless. After trying to make this scope work for me, I find I am working for the scope. If I'm the only eyeglass wearer with this problem then maybe I have a defective scope. To end this frustration, I'm sending the scope back to Amazon for a refund and back to searching for a new scope.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great scope - regardless of price, January 22, 2012

I bought this scope to see bullet holes at 50 and 100 yards at my local outdoor shooting range. This scope replaces a Barska I bought (and subsequently returned) locally. This scope is head and shoulders above the Barska. This scope is bright and clear and I am able to obtain sharp focus across the entire field of view at all magnifications (20x - 60x). 22 caliber holes are sharp at 50 yards and 30 and 45 caliber holes are sharp at 100 yards. I know I could see 22 caliber holes sharply at 100 yards but I don't shoot 22LR at that distance because for me at least its just a waste of ammo LOL. The tripod that comes with the scope is basic but functional and fairly steady in gusty wind, no complaints. The included soft case has a section for the scope and a section for the tripod, which is really nice. Also, the soft case fits down inside the hard case. I can't imagine a better spotting scope for less than $100.

The image was bright and clear. The small table tripod is junk and the eye piece was stiff and somewhat difficult to turn. That should get better with use. I recommend getting a good floor tripod. It's a good value for the money, you won't be disappointed using it for birding or game viewing.
