This review is from: Celestron 93774 Laser Pointer with Telescope Mount (Electronics)
I purchased this and was initially very excited, but less so after it arrived. I envisioned this item replacing my finderscope, which I have problems aligning.
I installed it on a Celestron NexStar 8 GPS telescope, but found that the dovetail bracket with 2 screw holes is sized so that you can get one NexStar 8 accessory screw into it. I contacted Celestron and they said the holes do not line up exactly on all scopes and that it should be secure enough with one screw. It seemed to be, but it didn't look the greatest. My second issue was that you can only see the green beam when your eyes are sufficiently dark adapted and there is very low ambient light. Even after being outside 30 minutes under a relatively dark sky, I could only see the beam clearly with averted vision. Most times, I had to put my hand in front of it to even make sure it was still on since I couldn't see it. The third issue (that caused me to return this item) is that it stopped working after one 10-minute use. The battery was not dead, but the laser was. It refused to turn on.

What A Total Waste of Time and Money!,

I have a 5mw green astronomy laser that I bought a mount for through Orion. It works exceptionally well but now I no longer have a pointer. When I saw this Celestron Pointer I was thrilled and ordered one. I had read reviews that said they were temperature sensitive but thought maybe those people had gotten bad ones, so I ordered one. WHAT A JOKE THIS THING IS!! If the temperature is above 70 degrees, it works okay. I thought maybe it was the cheap chinese battery it came with so I bought some good ones - no difference. Let's see, you use your telescope at night after the sun goes down, the sun being the source of heat for the planet. Therefore nights are usually cooler than days... When the temperature is below 70 this thing produces a faint green glow in the output end. Ridiculous! Anyway, I'm still using my laser pointer as a finder, summer or winter, and sent the Celestron piece back for a refund. What a total waste of time...

I am very unhappy with this laser pointer. It will not work when the temp is below 55. The first battery lasted 1 night. I bought a new battery and that went dead the first night ruining a a night of viewing. I would not buy this product.
