Celestron 93992 All About the Stars Expansion Card

The All About the Stars expansion card is interesting. However, it took quite a bit to get it going. I had to upgrade the firmware in my Sky Scout via a connection to the Internet through my PC. It required that I install some software on my PC to do the firmware update. It took a couple of tries to get it to finish, but it was fairly straight forward, just quite a few steps. Once the firmware was updated, the card would not work - with the card inserted, only the initial splash screen showed on the Sky Scout. I requested (through the Celestron support web site) and promptly received a return authorization from Celestron. I then mailed back (my expense) the card and original receipt. About a month later Celestron sent a replacement card that works.

A handy add on to the SkyScope if you're planning on stargizing with your son/daughter, and review some history and mythology. I haven't used the Scope much yet since I bought it, but this seems like a must-have add on if you already bought the Scope. The information contained is comparable to what you could expect from any off-the shelf astronomy book... it's not "pro", but rather educational and intended to address the non-scientific community in a well explained and friendly manner while providing some degree of scientific knowledge. Found it entertaining.

The expansion card is very informative. It shows so many things that you would normally never look at. I recommend it.

the star expansion card did not work . not worth the hassel to return it!

I really enjoyed the extra information. It was just right to give a lot of interesting information to learn, but not so much you got bored.
