Buying batteries all the time is annoying. Chargers should come with everything!!! You do need to be close enough to an outlet to run an extension cord. We have had to use the battery option when taking this for a Boy Scout outing, but usually the adapter is the only way to go for us!

A power adapter is absolutely necessary, especially for an 8" Nexstar SE, as otherwise the internal batteries will die quickly, leaving you with a useless scope. And this adaptor will give you plenty of power. However, you need to be hooked into an AC outlet, which means you had better have this available when you are out in the field, which of course is not always possible. I recommend buying the car battery adapter, which you can run either off the lighter socket of your car or a portable battery.

I like Celestron Products, they are quality items. This adapter will allow Me to Use My Telescope to take Photographs, and view the Sky for long periods with out using the battery.
