My 8-year old nephew received the binoculars for a Christmas gift this past winter (2007) and has thoroughly enjoyed the item and its diverse uses for play, school, and creative exploration of nature. His dad (my brother) reports he has never seen such a good quality set of binoculars that a child can use so readily and without supervision because of the ruggedness and reliability of the product. Highly recommend this item!

Real short here. I had associated the name 'Celestron' with telescopes and therefore astronomy in general and assumed that the company made high quality products.
If these binoculars were the cheapest available I would recommend them for those looking to spend the least amount of money, however they aren't, for example The Bushnell Power-view Bushnell Powerview 12x25 is a few dollars cheaper and in my experience better. In my use of the products it seemed that the Bushnell had better focus than the Celestron and were also more compact. It doesn't get much simpler than that, one has more clarity at a distance and is more practical to carry, one isn't.

Its is a very good binoculars at this price. However, please don't compare with high end and costly ones. I purchased it around a month back for my nephew and tested it myself first when i travelled to Niagara falls. I was overall happy with its performance. I was able to focus distant objects to a reasonable clarity. Using it from the window of aeroplane was also fun. It is light weight and reasonably small.

For seeing distant objects, it will lost some of clarity and details. However, you can not expect more than that from this binoculars. Rigth eye has cylinderical adjustment and helps in focusing the object. I wish that it was having this adjustment in left also. Most of the times, i was using it with only one eye because using the binoculars with both eyes was blurring the images to some extent.

I would recomment it for users who just want to chill out with a very good binoculars in this price band and don't have any serious passion for binoculars.

Personally, i would be spending more money to get something exceptionally good ;)
