4.0 out of 5 stars It's a nice scope., March 20, 2007

This review is from: Celestron NexStar 11GPS Telescope w/XLT Coatings (Telescope Only) (Electronics)
This is a great scope. I purchased it in 2003, so there may be better options now (2007). In my opinion, this scope is good only for visual observations as it is on an alt/az platform. Although it tracks very well, at higher powers I've notice some hunting/lurching looking through the eyepiece. Even though it has PEC, it needs to be "trained." Also, this scope is heavy and could be troublesome to set up. The OTA weighs close to fifty pounds and needs to be maneuvered onto the tripod. It's no problem for most, but I have heard of an individual in his fifties having to sell his N11 cause it was too hard to set up. Comparing it to other scopes at star parties I've attended, it's optics are excellent.
