I bought this quick-release bracket to mount a 50 mm Stellarvue finderscope to my Celestron C8.
The pre-drilled holes (for the mounting screws on the rim of the telescope tube) lined up and the holder works great. As stated in the other review, a dab of Loctite is probably not a bad idea.

Very Solid Finder Bracket,

I replaced my existing bracket mount on my Celestron 9.25" SCT and the mount fits fine. However, I gave it 4 stars overall because the bracket I got was a newer version of the identical Celestron part number. The rings sat higher and the base was thicker and heavier. The picture shown didn't match what I got. The newer version is very good though. One suggestion I'd make is no matter how tight you tighten the ring mounting screws to the base, and the base to the dovetail portion, they will loosen up. I used medium tight Loctite (blue) on the threads, and now they won't ever loosen up. And you can still unscrew them if you need to. A picture of the bracket I actually received is on this URL:
(...) You can see the difference when you look at both brackets. The seller needs to change the picture. |
