Amazon.com Product Description

Simply put, the Celestron 72014 Regal LX 8 x 42 Waterproof Binoculars is one of the finest, top-of-the-line binoculars you will find anywhere at this price. The Regal Series has long been revered by serious bird watchers and outdoor enthusiasts for their premium quality and affordable prices, but with the Regal LX Series, Celestron has set the bar even higher.

The Regal LX binoculars feature BAK-4 prisms and are fully multicoated and phase coated, giving the exquisitely crafted optics. Other enhancements in features include a super high reflectivity coating on the prism surface that gives you brighter daytime and nighttime images; a continuous spectrum high transmission lens coating to ensure natural color balance across the entire visible spectrum; and an aspheric eyepiece lens for pinpoint images across the entire field of view. Nitrogen-filled and completely waterproof, these binoculars will be your greatest companion when you're ready to tackle the elements.

The Celestron 72014 features an 8x magnification and an objective lens diameter of 42 millimeters, giving it a 5.3-millimeter exit pupil. (The exit pupil size -- the diameter of the objective lens divided by the magnification -- determines the amount of light available to your eye. The larger the exit pupil, the brighter the image obtained will be. A three-millimeter exit pupil is generally sufficient for daytime use, five-millimeters is suitable for daytime and twilight, and seven-millimeters is generally necessary for maximum nighttime or astronomy use.) All Regal DX Series models also come with Celestron's No Fault Limited Lifetime Warranty.

This review is from: Celestron Regal LX 10x42 Waterproof Binoculars (Electronics)
I had to do hours of educating myself on what a binocular should have to have to be a decent pair. These had all that the pros said they should. They are a great size too. I wanted to get a pair small enough for deer hunting, but powerful enough for Moose hunting (we hunt Moose out of trees up here, S.E. Alaska, and hike around in brush and muskeg for deer). These were a size right in the middle, not too small for moose, but still small and light enough you can pack them around an island hunting for deer all day. they are very clear - A HUGE difference from the crappy pair we have been using. I swear I just packed our old binocs around for jewelery - they were useless - I had to use my scope to see anything at a distance. With these new binocs, I can see each individual limb on trees pretty far off (I'm a horrible judge of distance - I think I'll get a range finder next). anyway, I can see clearly hundreds of yards away. These are good binoculars. My soon to be hubby, and avid hunter, agrees. (They were for "him" for Christmas. Lets hope he lets me borrow them.) I would definitely recommend them. BTW, I was going back and forth between these and a pair of Steiners (spell?), and these won out because of the size. Everything else is comparable. And lifetime warranty too, I believe.
