5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent health library addition; especially for collections emphasizing allergies and dietary control.
CELIAC DISEASE: A GUIDE TO LIVING WITH GLUTEN INTOLERANCE is the only book on the topic co-authored by a nurse, dietitian and clinical pharmacist, and provides an excellent guide to living a wheat-free, gluten-free lifestyle. From symptoms and diagnosis to managing daily life and complications, Celiac Disease comes complete with recipes and nutritional ideas and also...

3.0 out of 5 stars good book but preachy about religion
I found this book to be really good and had some great info on Celiac disease. It also had some great ideas, links, etc. What I didn't care for was the author's rather forceful religious views that she sprinkled throughout the book. It was a rather Christian-centric (is there such a word) book in that she seemed to assume that everyone reading the book was religious and a...

3.0 out of 5 stars good book but preachy about religion, July 28, 2010
This review is from: Celiac Disease: A Guide to Living with Gluten Intolerance (Paperback)
I found this book to be really good and had some great info on Celiac disease. It also had some great ideas, links, etc. What I didn't care for was the author's rather forceful religious views that she sprinkled throughout the book. It was a rather Christian-centric (is there such a word) book in that she seemed to assume that everyone reading the book was religious and a Christian. She mentioned God several times throughout the book. I, for one, did not feel comfortable with this. This should be a medical book but I don't think it's appropriate to bring religion (especially in the way that she did) into it. This book seems to be somewhat between a medical book and religious literature. She needs to stick to one or the other, I don't like the mixing of the religious themes into this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Informative, March 8, 2007
This review is from: Celiac Disease: A Guide to Living with Gluten Intolerance (Paperback)
Celiac Disease is difficult to diagnose and even more difficult to live with. This book should give hope and encouragement to anyone with Gluten Intolerance. I have recommended it to our local support group as it is well researched and very well written.
Thanks Sylvia - Great job!

If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with a gluten intolerance, you need to read this book! I've gone through this harrowing experience over the past month and my new book is making a difference! I'm unafraid as I begin to live a new life, and am starting to foresee my future optimistically.

The book is so informative that I can't begin to list its benefits. I WILL admit to reading it three times so far, highlighting AND underlining pertinent information, taking copious notes and copying/visiting many suggested web sites (remember, it's only been a month)! I do suggest keeping a small, spiral notebook for listing the most important suggestions, page numbers, web sites, support groups and product names...especially if you're a visual/tactile learner like myself (meaning I remember much more if I take notes).

As new questions arise, I return to the book for more information. I don't know how long it will take for me to develop a "habitual" gluten-free lifestyle, but this book has been a necessary and invaluable resource in the meantime!
