Product Description

Celine Dion's second English-language album made her a star all over the world, not just in France and her native Quebec. The tag-team production work is sometimes heavy-handed, swathing Dion in background choruses and gauzy keyboard washes, but her voice soars above it all, showing off her incomparable range and power. The public certainly responded to Dion's talent, landing her four singles from the album--"If You Asked Me To," "Nothing Broken But My Heart," "Love Can Move Mountains," and "Beauty and the Beast" (a duet with Peabo Bryson and the theme to the hit animated movie)--in the Top 40. --Daniel Durchholz

Celine's second English album is a treat for the ears. The self titled album features 13 great songs, and she sounds wonderful. Some of my favorite Celine Dion songs are on here, such as the wonderful ballad "Nothing Broken But My Heart", the tragic and sad Prince song "With This Tear", to name a few. The big hits of the album were "Love Can Move Mountains", an uptempo inspirational number, "If You Asked Me To", a wonderful ballad (although I also enjoy Patti Labelle's version of this song), the duet with Peabo Bryson on "Beauty and the Beast". "Water From The Moon" was a single but not a well known hit, it's a nice ballad that should have performed better than it did. Kenny G contributes on "Halfway To Heaven", which is a nice song. The album features 5 songs written by Diane Warren, and they are all nice. All in all, this is a solid album, every Celine fan must own. Highlights include: "Water From The Moon", "With This Tear", "Nothing Broken But My Heart", "If You Asked Me To", "Beauty and The Beast", "Love Can Move Mountains" and "Show Some Emotion". A treat.

When I first heard, 'If You'd Ask Me To', I didn't like it, but I loved 'Water From the Moon' and 'Nothing's Broken But My Heart'. Yet no Celine Dion song tops 'With This Tear' which was written by The Artist (aka Prince). 'With This Tear' is a real tear jerker especially when you hear the emotion she has when she sings it and when you read the beautiful, poetic lyrics. I think The Artist did an excellent job writing that song, and he wrote it for the perfect singer! Celine's got the voice and she's got the perfect music style for that golden voice of hers.

In my opinion this is her best album ever. I get chills everytime I listen to it. Several songs are written by DIANNE WARREN and one written by WALTER ALANASIEFF. If you are not aware of these two writers, they write great love songs. WALTER ALANASIEFF has co-written with MARIAH CAREY and others and DIANNE WARREN has written and produced so many hits for various artists. Celine also had the privilege to have a love song written by PRINCE called "With This Tear". There are also a few uptempo songs including the hit by DIANNE WARREN "Love Can Move Mountains". This is one of her classics albums. Buy it. You won't be sorry.

I highly recommend this CD. It was the first one I bought of Celine Dion and fell in love with her music. My favorite song is "Water from the Moon" and it can not be found on her greatest hits CDs.

I love this cd. I think that this and her first English album were/are her best. The songs on here are beautiful and her voice is outstanding. I know many people think this is sappy mush but honestly, can't you appreciate her immense talent. She really is superb and if you can go and see her in Las Vegas before the run ends, then I highly recommend that too. The show blew me away. It's undescribable. This cd is great and should be part of all your collections.

As always Celine has that Angelic wonderful voice, and a wonderful voice it is to sing these beautiful songs that are written by other people. I've been a Celine fan now for over 6 years now since "My heart will go on" from the year 1997 when Let's Talk About Love album came out and I'm still a fan of her today. Ive been collecting her CDs since January 2001. And to let you fans of Celine know that her new album called "A New Day Has Come" is coming out March 25, but released on March 26 in the United States. Anyways her second English-Album which is called "Celine Dion" is fantastic, and should be added into your Celine Dion collection! My favourite songs are water from the moon, if you could see me now and nothing broken but my heart plus i love you, goodbye. The other songs are wonderful, too. My opinion on the songs are below!
Introduction ~ The introduction is where Celine is speaking in French.
1. Love can move mountains 5/5 ~ This song is a great catchy up beat one.
2. Show some emotion 4/5 ~ This song is okay.
3. If you asked me to 5/5 ~ This song is wonderful.
4. If you could see me now 5/5 ~ I love this song.
5. Halfway to Heaven 5/5 ~ Wonderful.
6. Did you give enough Love 5/5 ~ Very cool song.
7. If I were You 4/5 ~ Not much to say about this one, but it's okay.
8. Beauty and the Beast 5/5 ~ Song from the disney movie Beauty And the Beast.
9. I love you, goodbye 5/5 ~ Sang Beautifully.
10. Little Bit of Love 5/5 ~ Wonderful song.
11. Water from the moon 5/5 ~ I also love this one.
12. With This Tear 5/5 ~ Beautiful.
13. Nothing Broken But My Heart 5/5 ~ Many of you already know this one. I love this one, too.
This album is a wonderful album as you can see
on what I put beside the tracks. If you are a Celine fan and
do not have this CD which is called "Celine Dion" then you
must go out and buy it. It is really wonderful!!!

This second English language album showed a change in style from 'Unison' and gave us a preview of what to expect from Celine in the future. For me the choice of material on this album has some of her most outstanding work on it. For me 4 tracks stand head and shoulders above the rest, 'Love Can Move Mountains' lets Celine's vocal range loose on an unashamed dance track with stunning effect. if this track doesn't get you moving, check you have a pulse! Both 'Water From the Moon' & 'With This Tear' show Celine's range magnificently, letting her vocals carry the tracks in a style that became her trademark on later albums. 'With This Tear' did make me wonder what an album of Celine's produced by Prince would be like, from the sound of this track alone the partnership of these two artist would have produced something very special. The track that keeps me coming back to this album is 'If You Asked Me To', Celine's cover of the closing track from the James Bond movie 'Licence to Kill'. If anything Celine's version surpasses the original by a considerable margin. The ability of Celine to switch from whisper soft vocals to full power in the blink of an eye is ably demonstrated in this track. I've lost count of the number of times this track has prompted me to hit the replay button. Yes, it has an 80's feel about it, but this is no bad thing given the excellent production work from all concerned. 8 years on this album still spends a lot of time in my system.
